The game just released on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and fans are enamored by the rich open-world full of content and activities, enemy variety, and combat opportunities. Dragon’s Dogma 2‘s reception is very reminiscent of Elden Ring’s two years prior and it is doing its part to hold fans at bay before the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.

There are a few games that can replicate the level of joy and tension that Elden Ring did before, but Dragon’s Dogma 2 and its combat is a very compelling and addictive alternative before FromSoftware releases any more content.

Players on X have shared their gameplay footage and showcased how challenging the game can be. It may not be a Soulslike title like the previous games that FromSoftware pioneered and made popular, the difficult combat is nearly identical to the same feeling players had before. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki did feel a bit of remorse and regret when his players constantly lose in his games but it was intended to build character and not to discourage.

It may not be on par with Elden Ring’s gameplay but it is close enough to keep fans satisfied and their itch scratched before the official release of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, but there are other options out there right now made by the creative members of the community and made Elden Ring their own through mods.

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Release Is Perfect Timing Before Shadow Of The Erdtree

Fans of Elden Ring won't have to wait long for the release of Shadow of the Erdtree.

The base game of Elden Ring is already impressive in size and scale, director Hidetaka Miyazaki promised and went on record stating that the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion will be comparable or on par with it. The team behind 2022’s Game of the Year worked hard to make sure that their largest expansion is a worthy follow-up to the greatness of Elden Ring which can be a difficult challenge but FromSoftware likes a challenge and their work speaks for itself.

Both games give players the ultimate hero experience of starting from the ground up with humility as their enemies make short work out of them from the start. Capcom made sure that the artificial intelligence in Dragon’s Dogma 2 can help amplify the player’s experience and have them interact with the world more naturally by being able to defend themselves from threats.

FromSoftware and Capcom are both amazing gaming companies that know how to please their community with their work on Elden Ring and Dragon’s Dogma 2 respectively, and both benefit from each other’s projects in ways that fans are familiar with.
