Dragon’s Dogma 2 is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam, and players are in awe of Capcom’s latest. However, given the game’s technical advancements and content, Ziostorm is not satisfied with its performance, citing texture glitches, significant frame drops whenever he enters cities, and the tendency of pawns to end themselves by jumping over a cliff.

Capcom and the game director Hideaki Itsuno even mentioned how seamless their world has been by taking advantage of next-generation hardware but it is unwise to dismiss the possibility of performance issues. Ziostorm is a YouTuber that focuses on Elden Ring but the similarities of themes with Dragon’s Dogma 2 are enough to make the YouTuber try it for himself.

While Ziostorm mostly features content related to Elden Ring, he took the time to try out Dragon’s Dogma 2 and is now addicted to it but claims the performance is unacceptable, especially in 2024 where games are expected to run at a certain state and showcase a true next-gen gaming experience.

Ziostorm is an avid Elden Ring gamer and even considers this game to be the perfect itch scratcher for the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC coming soon, but the game’s performance issues can be somewhat distracting which made him call Dragon’s Dogma 2 the best worst game he ever played.

The game has been in development for five years but the idea and concept came about after the release of the original which was 12 years ago. Capcom spared no expense in making the experience of Dragon’s Dogma 2 as non-scripted as it possibly can and delivering a unique experience that grants players full agency and freedom.

Ziostorm Calls Dragon’s Dogma 2 The Perfect Holdover Until The Elden Ring DLC

The Elden Ring DLC is titled Shadow of the Erdtree and will release on June 20, 2024.

FromSoftware is releasing its largest expansion yet in the form of Shadow of the Erdtree and is promised to be a worthy follow-up to the base game of Elden Ring and will feature older game mechanics from previous soulslike games. The iconic difficulty of the games made them stand out and attract other players who are into this sort of challenge.

Capcom also released the character creator feature from Dragon’s Dogma 2 for free days prior to the release of the full game which enabled players to recreate their favorite characters from other franchises. Both Elden Ring and Dragon’s Dogma 2 have robust and detailed character creators which encourage players to be original and make their journey unique only to them, and both games are very challenging.

Ziostorm praises the game’s innovation and the detailed world but the technical issues may not be game-breaking but are very distracting from what Dragon’s Dogma 2 can be. Capcom may have their own Game of the Year contender worthy enough to match the greatness of Elden Ring. Perhaps future patches can fix this issue and will give RPG fans the same experience Ziostorm had.
