Zendaya is Open to Reprising Her Role in Potential Dune 3
In a recent interview with Fandango, Hollywood star Zendaya expressed her enthusiasm for the potential third installment in the Dune film series. The actress shared that she is excited to see what could potentially happen, as she expressed her support and respect for Denis Villeneuve. She said,
“[I’m] just excited to see … It’s just anticipation—Whenever he is ready. I know he’s a perfectionist in many ways and doesn’t want to share things unless he’s fully ready to do that. So [I’m] respecting that and waiting until he’s ready.”
During the cast interview with Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet, Josh Brolin, Florence Pugh, Javier Bardem, and Austin Butler, they were also asked if they are open to reprising their roles in the future installment of the movie. “Would we be down? I mean, of course,” the actress said before adding, “Anytime Denis calls, it’s a yes from me, at least.”
She also expressed her anticipation and excitement for the future installments. The Dune star also shared her admiration for Villeneuve’s commitment, care, and passion for the project, suggesting that she believes he is the ideal person to bring the intricate and beloved Dune universe to life on the big screen.
Denis Villeneuve Reveals Ambitious Plans for Dune Trilogy
In an interview with Empire, director Denis Villeneuve shared his vision to expand the Dune universe on the big screen. Expressing his desire to extend the cinematic journey into a trilogy, the filmmaker said, “If I succeed in making a trilogy, that would be the dream.”
He also shared that the third installment, Dune 3, would delve into Frank Herbert’s second book in the series, Dune Messiah. “Dune Messiah was written in reaction to the fact that people perceived Paul Atreides as a hero,” he said before adding, “Which is not what he wanted to do. My adaptation [of Dune] is closer to his idea that it’s actually a warning.”
He also indicated that his involvement with the Dune saga might conclude with Part Three. “After that, the books become more… esoteric,” he said, suggesting that he is considering the trilogy as a comprehensive exploration of the universe, culminating with Dune: Part Three.
