Even though he failed to save his younger cousin on the second day of the event, Johnson’s efforts were enough for fans to love him. Yet, despite his grand return to the ring, wrestling fans are still mad over one thing— The Rock’s Black Adam.

Dwayne Johnson had as incredible a return to the squared circle as one had hoped for. Initially scheduled to battle his equally formidable and worthy cousin, Roman Reigns, Rock later turned heel to let Cody Rhodes finish his story.

After months of promos and some brutal name-calling, the epic tag match finally took place on April 6, 2024, at WrestleMania 40 Night One. Putting up a tough and gritty performance against Rhodes and Seth Rollins, it is sufficient to say that the actor shined as the Final Boss.

As the crowd around him cheered, a sign can be spotted stating Black Adam Sucked! (via X). And it seems that despite after years, fans are still not over what a flop of a movie it was. Being slated as the start of his glorious journey within the superhero genre, the movie failed to meet expectations.

Made against a budget between $190 million and $260 million (via Variety), the superhero flick only grossed about $390 million (via The Numbers). While one executive blamed Johnson for the movie’s failure, fans rather believe the movie was deemed to be a flop (via The Wrap).

And so, while WWE fans are still busy calling Dwayne Johnson out for his epic failure of a venture into the comic book verse, one fan revealed that the actor as Black Adam was ranked lower than John Cena and Dave Bautista by WWE fans.

It has been an ongoing debate among WWE fans about who among the many wrestler-turned-actors is the best actor. While Dwayne Johnson is known for being a box office champion, his wrestling contenders John Cena and Dave Bautista are not far behind.

While there are many actors who came into the business after their feats in the wrestling arena, Dwayne, Cena, and Bautista are among the top. Another thing common between the three is that all of them have portrayed a comic book character. And when it comes to which comic book character is the best, WWE fans have already decided.

As per this poll, it is clear that Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is the least-liked superhero. While Drax aka Bautista’s superhero is the most-liked, Cena’s Peacemaker is not far behind. And as it turns out, the poll seems to be proving Chris Jericho’s claims of the Dune star being the best wrestler-tuned actor among the three (via First We Feast).

Thus, despite the Rock’s grand performance as the Final Boss, Black Adam continues to haunt his acting as well as his wrestling career.

Black Adam can be streamed on Prime Video.
