Dwayne Johnson seems to have a lot on his plate at the moment. From being introduced to TKO Group Holdings as a member of the Board of Directors to stepping in the ring as his in-ring persona The Rock and duking it out with other superstars of the WWE. But at the same time, it seems like he’s still focused on his future in the film industry with several projects down the line.
While his most famous project at the moment might be his upcoming biopic film about former UFC Heavyweight Champion Mark Kerr, titled The Smashing Machine, there were also talks about a sequel to his film Jungle Cruise with Disney down the road, which is surprising since his first project was one of the biggest flops of his career.
Dwayne Johnson Is Ready For A Jungle Cruise Sequel Despite The First Film Being A Flop
Often claimed as one of the most bankable stars in the film industry, Dwayne Johnson has a long list of commercial blockbusters to prove this right along with the charisma to convince anyone he can make it possible. But it’s not as if he has never faced failure in the industry, as in 2021, the star was the face of one of the least-performing films of his career.
In a recent conversation with Variety‘s Marc Malkin on The Academy Awards Red Carpet, the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star was asked whether they could see his friend and Oscar-nominated star Emily Blunt in his upcoming MMA biopic titled The Smashing Machine, he replied with an enthusiastic yes, claiming that she was more than talented to take on any challenge.
Then, when asked if there were any updates on the sequel to Jungle Cruise in the future, the star replied with a yes yet again, saying:
“Possibly. Down the line, yeah, I’d wanna do it. Maybe, we’ll see.”
Despite Disney incurring a net loss of $190 Million, there is chance of a second film in the series is very astonishing, to say the least. Then again, a sequel was rumored to be in the works just a month after the first film was released, so there might be a chance we can see it sometime soon.
What Is Next For Dwayne Johnson?
Despite his film projects, his companies as well as being one of the Board members of the parent company of the UFC and the WWE, the star has not lost his edge when it comes to competing in-ring.
Thus, kicking off his rivalry with The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes at the WrestleMania Kickoff Event, the star has set himself to become his former WWE heel self and play the role of the antagonist. This scuffle has led to a tag team match between Roman Reigns and The Rock facing off Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins at the upcoming WrestleMania XL this April.
Jungle Cruise, streaming on Disney+.
