Some players are just saying that From Software will never launch this DLC and will take this work and put it into the Elden Ring 2 project. He may be right; fans have already hyped this content beyond the greatest expectations, and it will never be good enough for the fans and Elden Ring community.

Elden Ring DLC and the Shadow of the Erdtree conundrum

The wait for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is missing something very important: a launch date. Without any indication of when it will be available. The second anniversary of the game will come later this year, and many fans and members of the Elden Ring community are speculating about an announcement that the release date is this particular day. But other than Bandai Namco and From Software, they did not give any more information about the content.

Reddit’s user, TherealAlpaca12, has just given up and wants this huge DLC to become part of Elden Ring 2. He makes a very valid argument about the time and resources put into this content. He even talks about the time that it is taking From Software to release this DLC. Another incredible argument this user mentions is that many non-core fans of From Software bought Elden Ring, so he asked, “Will these players (which I’m guessing make the majority of purchases) return to a game they played two years ago?”

A couple of details about this discussion

This user is pretty on point; a lot of the more than 20,000,000 units sold that Elden Ring sold are not from the fans of Dark Souls or From Software games. So it is probable that this player is not going to play this DLC. Is it not a bad strategy to cancel this project and focus on the direct sequel to Elden Ring, which could launch in a few years from now. But Bandai Namco and the owners of From Software need the income this year.

Fans have different opinions about this possibility. Some agreed with the user, and others are just saying that is wrong. It is very probable that From Software is already working on its next AAA game after the successful launch of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. Since 2011, the studio has not stopped making one game after the other, with only one or two years of difference.

I'm a big fan of movies and videogames in general. I really love Pokémon and Godzilla. One of my favorite games is The Last of Us, Part II. A compelling and well-written story is always welcome.
