Due to the minuscule amount of information given on the character of Miquella, not much is known about him. Ever since the release of Elden Ring, fans have come up with many theories that might give some plausible record to Miquella, but it remains to no avail as there is no official confirmation from Fromsoftware themselves.

However, the announcement last year of the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for the game has got fans excited once again, as the key art for the DLC shows what seems to be Miquella on a steed. This has given many fans hope that they might finally get to experience more about this character.

Shadow of the Erdtree Key Art

Piecing together the facts given in the initial game as well as the hints from the DLC key art, players have managed to put together a theory of how Miquella might be returning as an Omen Lord.

Why Miquella Needs To Be Reborn And Why He Will Return As An Omen Lord In Elden Ring

Miquella, the son of Queen Marika and Radagon, was unfortunately born with the curse of eternal youth, which does not allow him to ever grow into adulthood. However, to break this curse, Miquella seems to have made his imitation of the Erdtree, called the Haligtree, where he was resting.

He was later kidnapped by Mohg, an omen born to Queen Marika and Godfrey, to start his own dynasty by being Miquella’s consort. Mohg particularly chose Miquella as he was an empyrean which meant Miquella was capable of becoming the God of the new age, and Mohg being his consort would abolish the curse of being an Omen for once and for all.

Following the kidnapping, Miquella was seen to be in a Cocoon, with his hand seeping out of a crack in the middle. Fans theorize that Mohg’s twisted experiments with his and Miquella’s blood might cause Miquella to be reborn as an Omen Lord.

This theory is also partially confirmed by observing the long skinny arm that peeks out of the cocoon as mentioned before. The arm does not match the description we are given of Miquella. He is supposed to have the curse of eternal youth, making it unnatural for him to have an arm like that.

What Do We Know About Miquella So Far And Why He Might Be Evil

As mentioned before, Miquella is an empyrean because he was born from another empyrean god, making him capable of becoming the ruler of the new age. While his character might come off as a little benevolent to some, many remain suspicious of his identity, speculating how becoming the new ruler might be his plan all along.

The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC pack can give the players a deeper dive into the life of Miquella and his journey, as many are predicting. It was he who created the Haligtree in an attempt to cure his and his twin sister, Malenia’s curse. He was also the one who created the Golden Sewing Needle, which can decrease how fast Scarlet Rot spreads in his sister’s body.

Many also guess we might finally get to see the return of Godwyn the Golden. It is a known fact that Miquella and Godwyn were companions, and with the sky now blocking the light due to ashes from the burning erdtree, Godwyn would be able to freely his deathblight and bring back his soul.

Elden Ring is available to purchase on Steam.
