Elden Ring‘s highly anticipated DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, is right around the corner, and fans are preparing to face all its challenges in earnest. The expansion is, after all, supposed to be the game’s swansong and a culmination of everything From Software has learned over the years.

Some are a little more determined to annihilate Messmer and every other challenge the DLC main contains than us regular folks. As an example, a Twitch streamer took it upon herself to beat the entire base game until New Game +7 in preparation for the expansion. Talk about dedication.

Twitch Streamer Missmikkaa Has Spent 269 Hours Turning Base Elden Ring Upside Down

Finishing Elden Ring once is a difficult task, but to defeat all bosses until NG+7 is sheer insanity.

With the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, Hidetaka Miyazaki is clearly looking to dial things up to eleven and go for the award of creating the greatest expansion of all time. Unsurprisingly, the game’s cult-like fans are also readying themselves to take on the quest to find Miquella.

This brings us to Missmikka—the Twitch streamer took it upon herself to 100% Elden Ring to New Game +7 at Rune Level 1, a feat that only a few in the game’s 2 years have accomplished. Recently, she shared her final victory against Elden Beast, declaring herself ready to face all the challenges that will come her way in Shadow of the Erdtree.

Finishing the game once at Rune Level 1 is a major accomplishment by itself. But to do the same thing until NG +7 is a battle of attrition that only a few can face, considering how quickly the bosses’ health and the amount of damage they deal increase with each new game. It’s a brilliant feat and a true example of the human spirit. Whether it’s enough to take on the DLC, though, remains to be seen.

What horrors await the Tarnished in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree?

All sources point out that Shadow of the Erdtree will be a wildly different experience than Elden Ring.

Historically, all of Soulsborne’s DLCs have presented a significant bump in challenge compared to the base experience. From Artorias to Gael, the DLCs have been a true test of the players’ skills and everything they’ve learned until the final point. When it comes to Elden Ring, though, it is slightly complicated to determine how difficult its expansion would be.

Elden Ring‘s current endgame is already difficult to the point where enemies and bosses simply one-shot you into oblivion and have enough varied move sets that players may just be prepared for everything. More importantly, the various gameplay mechanics Shadow of the Erdtree plans to introduce make it seem like a completely different experience than whatever was presented before.

So keeping that in mind, no matter how prepared you may be, there’s always a chance that Elden Ring‘s DLC may surprise you in ways you may least expect. However, if you’re willing to put in as much effort as people like Missmikkaa, who knows—perhaps your hard work may indeed bear fruit in the future.
