Elden Ring is about to get even larger as soon as FromSoftware releases the Shadow of the Erdtree. The DLC will improve the enemy variety of the base game while the gaming community is already excited to face down this new threat and take the mask as a trophy.
The official page has unveiled another new enemy design and it is the stuff of nightmares. The fans began speculating who this hideous character might be but what stood out was the the mask that concealed its face. Fans are eager to know if they can take it once it is defeated.
Shadow of the Erdtree Will Introduce New Enemies in Elden Ring
It was not long ago when the official page e revealed a different enemy type that took inspiration from Bloodborne, a fellow FromSoftware title that got the gaming community excited. The beloved Soulsborne game never got a sequel but what the developers are doing is a nice touch to honor it. Enemy variety is essential for this genre and FromSoftware has never failed to deliver.

The design is horrid and if it looks this bad for a promotional shot, players can only imagine the damage it can do in battle. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki explained that there will only be one expansion for the game and players can expect that the developers will bring loads of new content.

The mask caught the eye of the community and hoped it would be a cosmetic piece that would be rewarded to players for defeating it. Perhaps it is a new item that will grant players a special ability or it could be worn as a reminder of their struggles and hardships to beat it.
Miyazaki is doing his absolute best to ensure this expansion will be a worthy successor to the base game and the fans have high expectations. It is rare for the developers to work on a DLC with the size being nearly on par with the full base game and it could be a massive game-changer.
The Elden Ring Expansion Could Feature More New Enemy Types
FromSoftware has the advantage of taking inspiration from previous projects that could resonate well with the gaming community. The developers can appeal to the player base even more with familiar enemy types from their history.
The enemies in Soulslike games are known to be quite tough and Miyazaki does feel a bit apologetic for putting his players through that kind of experience. Perhaps skilled players will find these new enemies a walk in the park or it could be a new nightmare.
The developers can shake up the formula even more by providing a new challenge. Players will most likely spend a good chunk of their time trying to figure out how to best these new opponents.
Miyazaki wanted the players to learn the virtue of never surrendering regardless of what the developers throw at them. Shadow of the Erdtree could be the greatest expansion of all time if it is comparable to the base game in every aspect.
