Many hidden details could have been easily missed in the aforementioned trailer, such as a first look at none other than Miquella at the very end of the reveal. How Shadow Of The Erdtree Gameplay Trailer Might Have Subtly Hidden A Peak At Prime Ranni

It is a true Hidetaka Miyazaki tradition to hide details and secrets in plain sight for everybody to see. This is what we think is the case with the new official gameplay trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which was released yesterday.

While it surely contains many more secrets waiting to be discovered, this one remains a matter of concern as it might give us a glimpse of what Ranni the Witch used to look like in her physical empyrean body. Nearly a minute into the trailer, one would observe a tall character sitting on a throne in an area that somewhat seems to resemble the Caria Manor.

For those who might not know, Caria Manor is where Ranni resides in Elden Ring, which gives this speculation credit as to why the character might be prime Ranni. Her original appearance has not been officially disclosed except we know she had red hair, which cannot be used to confirm the fact as the character shown in the trailer has hidden his hair.

Bearing in mind how the Land of Shadow is most likely set in the past, as indicated by hints in the description as well as the official website for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, it is possible that this character indeed turns out to be Ranni still in her empyrean body.

What Do We Know About Ranni the Witch Already In Elden Ring?

Ranni is one of the rare characters that has been well-defined by the developing team, with a clear motive set in mind. She is the daughter of Rennala and Radagon, and the sister of Rykard and Radahgon.

She was made an empyrean by the greater, which essentially meant that she was capable of becoming the ruler of the new age. However, she rejected the idea of somebody else controlling her destiny, leading her to orchestrate the Night of Black Knives as well as the burning of her own physical body.

Rejecting the Golden Order, it is the Dark Moon, which is another outer god that Ranni worships. It is through her quest line that the player is finally able to unlock the Age of Stars ending, which consists of taking away the influence of the Golden Order and replacing it with the Dark Moon.

Shadow of the Erdtree is available to pre-order on Steam.
