Elden Ring is a FromSoftware game and a Soul-like title. By nature and legacy, this game gets a free pass on being hard. And it is no doubt a hard game to play through. There are numerous bosses to defeat, a large number of whom are relentless. They almost make players feel like pushovers.
But with enough perseverance and soul-grinding, players can often end up with something special. A weapon that scales with some stats and eventually becomes so overpowered that players can cut through enemies like butter. They end up being so powerful that fans wish FromSoftware would nerf them a bit in the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Here’s a list of such OP weapons.
1. Fallingstar Beast Jaw
Elden Ring has categories of weapons, and Fallingstar comes under the colossal weapon category. There’s a reason for it: it’s just huge. This weapon is excellent because it works for three different kinds of builds. It scales with strength, dexterity, and intelligence. This means the more points one puts into these attributes, the more powerful this weapon gets in their hands.
As powerful as this weapon is, getting it is no easy task. Players have to defeat the Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast on Mt. Gelmir. And this enemy is not easy to kill; it can send players falling to their deaths in an instant. But once a player gets it, they can make quick work of any enemies or even bosses with it.
2. Sword of Night and Flame
The sword of night and flame is just a straight sword. It’s not a convoluted, hard-to-describe weapon like Fallingstar Beast Jaw, but it can be counted among the most powerful weapons in the game. Once again, this weapon scales with intelligence, dexterity, and strength. And that makes this weapon completely worth having. But if players have the right stats, it would end up making the game too hard for them.
Getting this weapon is not as hard as getting the Fallingstar though. It can be found behind a locked room in Caria Manor.
3. Moonveil
This is a Katana-type weapon that some players might end up dismissing as “nothing special.” But it is something special. This weapon scales with strength, dexterity, and intelligence too. It has super-fast and powerful weapon art, and above all, this weapon does a lot of bleed damage. It would be hard to match Moonveil’s weapon art, though, as it consumes very little FP.
Players can get Moonveil by defeating Magma Wyrm, located in Gael Tunnel (Caelid). On account of its low FP consumption, players can easily spam its special attack and stun lock enemies. FromSoftware should try and do something about that.
4. Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear
Amongst all the weapons mentioned on this list, this one might be one of the hardest to get and coolest-looking. It’s a trident that FromSoft has decided to call a spear. It scales with strength, dexterity, and arcane. Yes, indeed, players would be able to take full advantage of it only if they had enough points in Arcane. Its Bloodboon Ritual is something that even harms enemies if they are behind an object or even a wall.
This weapon is so powerful only due to its skill. Over time, this skill even levels up with each weapon upgrade. To get their hands on it, players have to go and defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood, who is one of the hardest bosses in the game.
5. Godslayer’s Greatsword
Another colossal weapon has made it to the list. While it may not be as powerful as the Fallingstar, with the right stats, it can still make quick work out of one’s enemies. It mainly scales with dexterity and faith. And it also inflicts fire damage as a bonus on physical damage. Its skill, “the Queen’s Black Flame,” makes it a worthwhile get.
This weapon can be obtained by defeating the Godskin Apostle under the Divine Tower of Caelid. Just defeat the boss and go behind its boss arena to find it in a chest.
6. Reduva
For players who want a good start with the Elden Ring, Reduva is the weapon to grab. It is a dagger, but don’t go by its category, as it rises beyond how players identify it with just a few slashes. It scales incredibly with strength, dexterity, and arcane. Its attacks are mostly not very powerful, but its skill is something else.
Its skill inflicts incredible bleed damage on one’s enemies. With enough FP and Arcane points, players can make quick work of most bosses in the game using just the skill of Reduva. Getting it is fairly simple too; just visit the tunnel where Murkwater Cave is and wait for Bloody Finger Nerijus to invade.
These weapons are no doubt incredible; they look good, and they slash even better. But if a weapon slices through a hard boss in two or three attacks, is it even worth it? Where’s the challenge in that? Hence, it is recommended that FromSoftware nerf these Elden Ring weapons a bit.
