Epic Marvel Movie Moments With Insane Potential That Became Horrible Missed Opportunities

Featured Video

Marvel movies don’t necessarily always hit the bullseye. Sometimes they tease way too much but give out way too little – a classic ‘biting more than you could chew’ situation. There are many epic Marvel movie moments that deserved to be in future Marvel movies. But these marvel movie moments were total dead ends, letting millions of fans down.

Sam Wilson Becomes Captain America

The mantle of Captain America is not for the weak willed. It takes strong ideals and morals and an even stronger sense of justice and righteousness to wield the shield. Captain America is a symbol of hope, a beacon of light against the sword of might. Steve Rogers Sam Wilson had it in him to become the new Captain America.

The Falcon & The Winter Soldier gave us a new Captain America. But the transition was horrendous. Sam Wilson somehow became an expert at wielding the shield in such short notice. And to top it off, Sam became less of a superhero and more of a political negotiator. becoming Captain America does not give you the right to tell world leaders what’s best for them. You lead by example, not by long darn speeches.

How Nick Fury Loses His Eye

We believe there was a story there. But boy did they screw it up. From fighting international terrorists to being held captive and being tortured by rogue nations, the explanation for Fury losing his eye could have been so vivid and full of gore. Captain Marvel just made it look like a domestic accident.

In the comics, there are many reasons how Fury loses his eye. There was an issue where Nick Fury lost the eye to a car explosion. In another issue, Fury became blind in one eye when a stray grenade exploded too close to his face. Winter Soldier hyped his lost eye too much. We didn’t expect that to be honest in Captain Marvel.

The Silver Surfer’s Board Flies Back

Silver Surfer - Fantastic Four
Silver Surfer – Fantastic Four

In Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Marvel’s first family fights Marvel’s most powerful Herald of Galactus. The Silver Surfer is a cosmic superhero and one of the strongest beings in the Marvel Comic Book Universe. So Marvel fans were hyped up to see the Surfer on the big screen in a live action movie.

Rise of the Silver Surfer was a huge letdown. But it did show us a very good character development for Norrin Radd. In the end, after he helps the Fantastic Four defeat Galactus, everyone assumes the Surfer is dead. But in the very final moments of the movie, the board flies back – meaning the Silver Surfer lives. Since Fox rebooted F4 in 2015, we never got to see the Surfer again.

Magneto Becomes A Horseman Of Apocalypse

If we had a penny for everytime we think how Fox butchered X-Men: Apocalypse, we would be millionaires. Despite the movie having a stellar cast roster that included James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, we still look away at the very first sight of it. The very thought of X-Men: Apocalypse makes us cringe in disgust.

But the movie did have its moments. Apocalypse has the power to augment the abilities of other mutants. He did the same for Magneto. The only difference is – in the comic books, Magneto’s Horseman of War is a true badass in every sense of the word. The movie version doesn’t even come close.

Samuel Sterns Becomes The Leader

Samuel Sterns – The Leader – The Incredible Hulk

Before the climactic battle between the Abomination and the Hulk, a drop of irradiated blood falls into the head wound of Samuel Sterns. Sterns’ head starts mutating. In the comic books, Samuel Sterns is the Marvel villain known as the Leader, one of the greatest comic book villains of all time.

The Incredible Hulk is now considered non-canon to the MCU. So that Leader tease went absolutely nowhere and will pretty much stay as such for all eternity. Such a terrible missed opportunity!!
