Rescued singularly by Tom Hardy and his utter commitment to his titular character of an alien symbiote with an attitude issue, Venom blew at the box office. But the sequel, directed by Andy Serkis, turned out to be the least passable spin on the buddy comedy. Right from the second installment, the Venom franchise gradually started degrading.

Being a part of the extended Spider-Man Universe, Tom Hardy’s Venom movies were supposed to have a larger fanbase, but unfortunately, they failed to make an impact. Now, after one hit and a mediocre sequel that barely stood a chance at the box office, Sony is back with a threequel. Starring Ted Lasso actress Juno Temple, the movie is said to be directed by Kelly Marcel. However, despite the stellar cast, fans are not convinced to watch the movie.

Sony is Back With Tom Hardy’s Symbiote-Powered Venom 3

Tom Hardy is certainly a remarkable talent in the entertainment industry. But despite his acting potential and influential star power, the actor failed to impress audiences with his second installment of Venom in 2021. Previously, after the first Venom movie released in 2018, which is a part of the extended Spider-Man Universe, it managed to turn into a hit. But thereafter, Hardy’s Venom sequel began degrading.

Narrating the story of symbiote-powered Eddie Brock, Venom movies, although garnering “rotten” reviews of 30% and 57% respectively, both turned into box office successes and firm favorites of casual moviegoers. Meanwhile, die-hard fans of the comic book character weren’t quite happy with the sequels. But it seems, Sony is rather unfazed with how Tom Hardy’s sequel ended up.

Therefore, this year, Sony has yet again planned on bringing out Tom Hardy’s symbiote-powered Eddie Brock to the big screen. Marking the third and final Venom movie, the threequel is said to feature a stellar cast and a new director. Although barely anything has been disclosed about the plot or the antagonist, fans pinned their hopes on either Lobo Cartel or Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.

Ted Lasso’s Juno Temple to Feature in Venom Threequel

According to reports, this year in the third Venom sequel, fans will get to see Ted Lasso actress Juno Temple sharing the screen with Tom Hardy. With the lead actor confirming the movie is reaching the end of its production, where he will return as Eddie Brock, infested with the titular alien parasite, GQ reported that franchise scribe Kelly Marcel will direct the third installment.

We’re coming close to an end at the moment. It’s been a wild, wonderful ride. It’s so new to me. It’s a big set! This is crazy. It’s been so much fun and I got to work with such cool people. I’ve been so lucky in my career to just have the most incredible casts. I can’t wait for it to get out into the world. I think it’s going to be a good one.”

Despite Juno Temple‘s affirmation on how Venom 3 is going to be better than its prequels, fans don’t appear quite convinced. Previously witnessing rather mediocre sequels, netizens don’t seem to be willing to gamble this time.

Recalling previous disappointments from the Venom prequels, fans are rather willing to pass on this one. Meanwhile, with Madame Web already notifying that 2024 might be an iffy year for superhero flicks, Venom 3 seems to confirm it even further.
