The highly awaited and talked about upcoming professional wrestling event, WrestleMania 40 or WrestleMania XL produced by WWE will be held on April 6 & 7th 2024 at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The event will mark the first WrestleMania to be held under the TKO banner.
Professional wrestler and actor Dwayne Johnson is known as one of the most influential people in the world. His return to WWE television has not only garnered the attention of WrestleMania40 but also managed to shake a lot of things up on the road to the event. His recent interaction with Roman Reigns at SmackDown has fans believing that the biggest betrayal is coming.
Dwayne Johnson acknowledges Roman Reigns as his ‘Tribal Chief’ ahead of WrestleMania 40
Dwayne Johnson and Roman Reigns have been the names that have managed to garner the most attention ahead of WrestleMania 40 along with Cody Rhodes. Johnson who appeared at Friday’s episode of SmackDownin Glendale had Roman Reigns request him for one crucial thing; to ‘acknowledge him’. The Rock accepted his request and said,
“Roman Reigns, my family, I acknowledge you as my Tribal Chief”.
Dwayne Johnson appeared on Friday’s episode to answer Cody Rhodes’ challenge for the one-on-one match between the two. Johnson instead according to Cage Side Seats had a counteroffer for Rhodes; Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins vs The Rock & Roman Reigns.
He suggested that the tag team match be held at WrestleMania with conditions that mentioned that if Rhodes and Rollins win, Rhodes will get his chance to finish his story without the interference of The Bloodline. If Rock & Reigns wins, then the WWE Universal Championship match will be a Bloodline Rules match. The latter suggests that whatever happens, Roman Reigns gets to leave with his championship.
The Rock had mentioned that they would be in Dallas next week for SmackDown so that they could get their response firsthand.
Fans convinced Dwayne Johnson would ‘turn on’ Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40
According to reports by ComicBook, past Friday on the episode of SmackDown in Salt Lake City, The Rock had explained his decision to side with Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, and Jimmy Uso. But fans noticed how his body shifted while he was bashing the crowd and addressing Cody Rhodes as he said,
“Cody Rhodes, let The Rock make one thing perfectly clear. The Rock is going to do everything in his power to make sure that you walk out of WrestleMania what you are, which is a loser.”
Eagle-eyed fans noticed how he pointed in Reigns’ direction while talking to Rhodes. Johnson’s decision to join forces with The Bloodline came after Cody Rhodes’ quest to finish the story was supported by fans across the world. Especially after Johnson acknowledged Reigns as Tribal Chief, fans are convinced that The Rock is going to turn on Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 and help Cody Rhodes win.
A user noted under the reel posted by WWE’s Instagram, ‘I smell the greatest betrayal of all time coming’, while another wrote, ‘Rocky turns on Roman confirmed.’ Ardent fans of the sport have mentioned that The Rock will turn against Roman Reigns and the audience is going to have a year-long build-up to Roman Reigns vs The Rock for WrestleMania 41.
The users acknowledged Roman Reigns by suggesting that everyone will turn on Roman, but he is the most loyal of them all adding that he has never turned against his partners/teammates, etc.
Matt Morgan in his interview with Gigantic Pop shared that Dwayne Johnson is constantly a babyface in everything he does outside of WWE adding that if that’s the case, he could do something to help Cody Rhodes win and turn on Roman Reigns.
