The post-apocalyptic world of Fallout 76 celebrates 17 million players as fans enter 2024. In a heartfelt letter by the game’s art director, it seems that the game is set to receive a multitude of updates and quality-of-life improvements as part of the next series of updates. This includes a large installment and seasonal events.
Players unfamiliar with the game are in for a world of exploration as Fallout 76 continues to build on the familiar post-nuclear America, 25 years after the bombs were dropped. The ongoing online realm welcomes players to explore the dangerous yet welcoming landscapes of Appalachia.
Fallout 76’s Art Director Addresses the Game’s Victories
In a blog post that resembles a letter to the community, art director Jonathan Rush has written quite a few lines of gratitude and appreciation for the fans. It includes multiple announcements for all the new content players can expect in 2024 and how it revolves around the game’s core narrative.
Furthermore, the post explains a quick roadmap for the game and seasonal changes to look forward to in Fallout 76:
Together, 17 million players have experienced new Fallout tales and characters with Wastelanders. You’ve made major choices affecting the area’s outcome in Steel Reign and Steel Dawn.

You’ve even ventured beyond Appalachia’s borders with The Pitt and now Atlantic City. You’ve seen traveling carnivals, unlocked tons of content with Fallout Seasons, fought Spooky Scorched, set foot on New Jersey’s glamorous post-nuclear boardwalk, and much more.
The excitement is surely clear as day, and there’s a lot more to unpack here. As celebratory as having 17 million players is, the game will see a lot more players (new and returning) once new update packs make their way to the game.
Moreover, existing players can look forward to exploring familiar parts of the map in more depth. This includes Atlantic City and Shenandoah. While we’re not sure of all the new NPCs that might be interactable, there is a particularly legendary character making an appearance.
What Players Can Expect From the Game in 2024
The creative geniuses behind the game plan on expanding Fallout 76’s potential even more in 2024. Based on new plans, the map will build southward into the heart of Shenandoah. This newly discovered landscape will offer new factions, a new questline, and rewards players can look forward to.
Moreover, seasonal events in the game will take greater focus and run more frequently. Without revealing too much, Jon addressed the fact that players can expect newer seasonal events as well.
In the spring of 2024, a new installment, Atlantic City: America’s Playground, will make its way to the game. This will have players cross paths with Jersey Devil, a well-known character, and find themselves going about new narrative-based quests. This installment will also include new rewards to look forward to and newer areas to explore.
Jon also remarks on the excitement around the new upcoming show based on the same franchise. Fallout’s own TV show is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in the spring. The show is the product of brainstorming between Bethesda Games Studios and Kilter Films, diving deeper into the world and characters of the globally recognized game by the same title.
