The cast of the MCU’s Fantastic Four film was recently announced and had fans buzzing over the internet. As is the case with many comic book movie castings, people had their agreements and disagreements with the choices of actors. However, this added to the intriguing element of the film and the question of whether the MCU could finally pull off a good Fantastic Four film.

The film is scheduled to hit theatres on July 25, 2025, two weeks after the release of James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy. A popular scooper has now predicted that Fantastic Four might move its date to November, which would pose a problem for Mahershala Ali’s Blade film.

The long-awaited MCU Fantastic Four film had its biggest update to date recently with Marvel Studios officially confirming the cast of the film. Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are set to play Marvel’s first family. The film which is expected to be set in the 60s will hit theatres on July 25, 2025.

This release date is an interesting one as it is just two weeks after the release of James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy (July 11, 2025). There is little room for Gunn’s film to breathe and the two films will be neck to neck in theatres. It will affect their box office performances compared to how they would have performed if the other was not there.

Popular industry insider Jeff Sneider (via his blog) has provided a possibility that The Fantastic Four might move its date to November 2025 and take the spot of Mahershala Ali‘s Blade. This would be another blow for the project as it has been delayed multiple times owing to creative differences and production troubles. However, this might not happen as the Fantastic Four casting news and its new release date was announced very recently on February 14.

They have already known for a long time that Superman: Legacy is releasing in July and they have now decided to release it at the end of July two weeks later after Gunn’s film (maybe showing their confidence in the film). For now, audiences should take Sneider’s words with a grain of salt but anything can happen as Hollywood and comic book movies are in turmoil right now.

The MCU is coming with its incarnation of Marvel’s first family, The Fantastic Four, next year. The cast of the film was announced recently and director Matt Shakman who directed WandaVision will return to direct the film.

Shakman told Collider how it was a dream come true for him to direct the film as he is a huge fan of the Fantastic Four. He revealed that he loved the characters since he was a kid and now getting the golden opportunity to bring them into the MCU is a huge honor for him. He said,

“I have loved these characters since I was a kid so it is a huge joy to be able to work with them, and spend time with them every day. To bring them into the MCU is also a huge joy. So it’s that. It’s just the excitement of being the kid who found them when I was six, seven, eight, and now being able to work with them on the big screen. It’s amazing.”

The film is set to start shooting sometime in the summer of this year. The much-anticipated film will be released in theatres on July 25, 2025, taking over the spot of Thunderbolts which has now moved up to May 2, 2025.
