Marvel Studios is constantly trying to adapt to the changing landscape of the MCU despite already laying out the narrative of the franchise from the very beginning. These changes often come in the form of slight tweaks to make things interesting, which is what the upcoming Fantastic Four was set to receive with a female Silver Surfer being part of the film when it would release.
As for the star who was to be playing this altered character, it was reported pretty unanimously that actress Anya Taylor-Joy would portray the Silver Surfer in the film.
But now, this does not seem to be the case anymore, since Marvel Studios may have retraced their steps on this decision and decided to leave the character as it is depicted in the comics, which rejects the casting of the star as its gender-bent version.
Marvel Studios Have Reportedly Decided to Keep The Silver Surfer As Male In Fantastic Four
While Marvel Studios is known as the biggest outlet for superhero cinema around the world, they are not known to be too stringent with their adaptations of Marvel Comics, which opens them up for creativity and welcome changes that the fans would love to see.
This attribute was one of the reasons why people assumed that for the upcoming Fantastic Four, they were trying to change the iconic Silver Surfer’s gender to female, which was setting up Anya Taylor-Joy to assume the role of this iteration of the character.
But new reports from sources reveal that either this decision was mere speculation, or a complete overhaul of the original decision for the character since claims have been made that strongly believe the casting for the Silver Surfer will not be female, but rather it’s comic accurate depiction of a male humanoid, which will require a male actor for the role.

Early on, the news about a female Silver Surfer in the upcoming film starring Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby was a speculation most could get behind as Marvel was known for making some major and minor changes.
But seeing the recent failures of the company with its TV shows and major films, it seems like they have decided to play it as safe as possible for the foreseeable future, which naturally includes sticking close to the source material to not create problems with the fandom.
While we still may not know who the star would be that would bring the Silver Surfer to life in the future, we at least have some indication of where the project is heading now.
What Do We Know Of The Upcoming Fantastic Four So Far?
Apart from the aforementioned major change from the originally reported plan, everything else that has been confirmed for the project will happen the way it is laid out to the public.
As for the details, Fantastic Four will start its production in the second quarter of the year with the confirmed cast of the titular superhero team, while other stars for other characters are still being searched for.
Along with that, it’s being rumored that there may be the involvement of Galactus in the coming film, while some also claim that Kang’s variant Rama-Tut might be the main antagonist, something that we would have to look out for.
