Fans were anticipating an announcement from Ubisoft about their much-rumored title Far Cry during its June 2023 Showcase. However, that did not happen. Nonetheless, that did not stop the rumor mill from spinning.
The last Far Cry game came out in 2021, and it took players back to its origins with a tropical Island setting called Yara. Far Cry 6 had various mechanics inspired by Far Cry 3, which is regarded as one of the best open-world games of all time. If rumors are to be believed the seventh installment of the game could take inspiration from Far Cry 2.

As per the post, Far Cry 7 will be titled Far Cry: Rise and will be set on a fictional island located in the Yellow Sea called Kimsan. Like its predecessor, Far Cry 7 too will reportedly follow a tropical island setting. According to rumors, the island has been held captive by North Korean Insurgents headed by the antagonist named Choi Sang-Pil. The role of the villain will reportedly be played by the Squid Games series fame, actor Lee Jung-Jae.
Other Far Cry 7 leaks
Besides the setting, there are other rumors surfacing on the internet about Far Cry 7 from time to time. It is believed that just like Far Cry 6, the upcoming Far Cry sequel will also have a male and a female protagonist called Andrew or Mina Park respectively. The protagonists are Korean Idols and they must manage to survive and protect their siblings from the hold of the insurgents. The post also hinted that the game could possibly have multiple storylines. It read,
“From the conflicts, you decide to engage in down to the allies or foes you meet along the way, Rise to the challenge and choose how the story of Far Cry: Rise unfolds.”
The post also claims that the game’s campaign will include up to 4 player co-op. This claim is a little doubtful considering the previous Far Cry game allowed only a single player to join the campaign co-op missions. If it does indeed support 4 players, it could have a gameplay experience similar to Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
Additionally, reports also claim that Far Cry 7 could also include an extraction-type gameplay mode named Far Cry: Conquest. This could allow 90 other players or AI to fight it out thus becoming the first to get extracted from the island. This sounds similar to Escape From Tarkov‘s extraction shooter gameplay mode.
