I mean it will be great if we could because then we could actually put some things down, but yeah,, we hope so. It ends on a dot dot dot. If people go to the cinema and watch this movie, then there will be more.”

In a separate conversation with The Upcoming, the Little Women star admitted her role in Denis Villeneuve‘s film is quite different from all of the characters she has played in the past.

I’ve never played a role like her before. I’m always drawn to very loud opinionated women, and while she may have that within her, I think I’ve done something that is opposite of what I’d usually grab to, and I was able to be on set for a short while. I got to basically hang around with all these actors that I have idolized for such a long time.”

Indeed, there will be more stories to tell about Pugh’s character when she returns in Dune: Messiah. It’s also worth noting that her co-stars Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya have expressed willingness to reprise their respective roles in the future.

Warner Bros has yet to confirm Dune: Messiah despite Denis Villeneuve’s wish to continue the franchise up to the third movie. However, fans may rely on his statement via Total Film:

All of the elements are there, but I think the movie adaptation is more tragic than the book. The way that Part Two ends… it would create a total balance and equilibrium to finish Paul’s storyline in what we could say in Part Three.”

Timothée Chalamet also believes that everyone in the cast is willing to return to complete the Dune story.

The idea excites me very much. If the time and opportunity comes to complete the story with Messiah, I think we’re all super enthusiastic about that.”

Dune: Messiah is absolutely a unanimous hope for both the cast as well as the fans. While there are many tales that can still be explored and interpreted on the screen, Villeneuve firmly asserted that he only plans to make a trilogy.

Dune: Part Two will hit theaters worldwide on March 1, 2024. Meanwhile, fans can stream 2021’s Dune via Netflix.
