Chris Hemsworth, who played the god of thunder Thor in the MCU, will be leading the cast, lending his voice to a young Optimus Prime in the film. He will be joined by a few of his MCU colleagues, such as Brian Tyree Henry, who voices D-16, the young Megatron, and Scarlett Johansson, who plays Elita-1. Even Laurence Fishbourne, who was seen in Ant-Man, is a part of the star-studded voice cast.

Hemsworth was on stage with Henry, while Johansson joined them with a pre-recorded message for the audience. The Black Widow actress teased a bit about the project, without revealing too much about it.

The actor welcomed Henry to join him on the Colosseum stage inside Caesars Palace. The pair went on to reveal an extended trailer for the film, along with the 3D scene. “Like nothing you’ve ever seen on the big screen before. This origin story is how they transformed from brothers in arms to sworn enemies,” revealed Hemsworth (via The Hollywood Reporter).

It was met with thunderous applause, and as the news trickled out of CinemaCon, the anticipation around the film only increased. After Furiosa, this is the second Hemsworth film in two days to be received so well at the event.

The official logline for the film has also been revealed. “The long-awaited origin story of how the most iconic characters in the Transformers universe, Orion Pax and D-16, went from brothers-in-arms to become sworn enemies, Optimus Prime and Megatron,” it reads (via IGN).

The animation style is quite different, but it fits the world of Cybertron. Even the tone of the film is different, as it offers more comedic elements with quite a bit of banter between the characters. The trailer will be out on April 18, with Paramount aiming for a September 13th release.
