Fortnite is played in the third-person, and there have been several rumors suggesting that it will soon get the first-person mode to take on Call of Duty. It has now been confirmed by Epic Games that Fortnite will finally be getting the highly anticipated mode later this year.

Fortnite fans have been hoping to get the first-person mode for quite a while now, and Epic Games made it official during the State of Unreal livestreamduring the State of Unreal livestream during GDC 2024 at the Game Developer Conference (GDC) 2024 that players will be able to play in first-person later this year. The announcement came as part of a public roadmap that showed “First-Person Camera” in the creation tools section.

A brief clip of first-person mode was shown during the presentation, showing a player moving around with a gun and shooting things. Epic Games said, “Later this year, we’re happy to finally announce that we’re gonna release the highly-requested first-person camera,” acknowledging that “it took a while” for the developer to bring the mode to the game.

However, the mode will initially be limited to creation tools in UEFN and will be implemented in other game modes in the future. It is also not yet known if the first-person mode will be an option for players to choose from or if it will be a different mode altogether, like the Zero Build. An exact release date for the first-person mode hasn’t been announced yet, so players will have to stay tuned for more information about this.

During the State of Unreal livestream, Epic Games also announced that game assets, animations, and characters from Fall Guys are coming to Fortnite‘s UEFN creative mode. Players will be able to create custom Fall Guys and experience it in the next Chapter 5 Season 3.

The company also said that it has added Lego templates and other Lego-branded items that players can use to make their games in Fortnite. The Lego tools are available in both Fortnite Creative and the UEFN. It was also revealed with the showcase of an in-game character that Fortnite will be getting a Ninjago collaboration, and fans could see it as soon as in the next season.

Still, it is advised to wait for official confirmation from Epic Games. Moreover, the Battle Royale mode will be developed using UEFN going forward. Epic Games Store has also been announced to come to Android and iOS later this year, and Fortnite is coming to iOS devices at the end of 2024.
