Recently, there was a State of Unreal 2024 livestream that revealed a lot of new information in terms of Fortnite, the Unreal engine, and Epic Games as a company. Throughout this live stream, plenty of future content was showcased for Fortnite and LEGO Fortnite, but there was one announcement that players have been waiting years for.
This major announcement is something players have been begging for since Fortnite‘s release back in 2017, and now they can finally rest easy. The feature in question is the ability to change from a third-person to a first-person view, and players cannot wait to get their hands on it.
A Change in Perspective Is Coming to Fortnite, and It’s a Long-Awaited Change
Over the many years that Fortnite has been active, there has been one major feature players have been begging for, and that is to change the camera’s perspective from a third-person view to a first-person view.
This means that players will be able to change the camera from an over-the-shoulder perspective into a real-life perspective. For many shooter games, this is a major benefit for players as they will be able to take advantage of the more direct view of their gun and its reticle so that they can aim more proficiently.
Sadly, this has been a feature Epic Games has chosen to ignore for many years. But with the game’s continued popularity and its constant scale in graphics and mechanics, it makes sense that the developers would finally bring in this new mode for players to enjoy.
This May Prove Challenging With the Many Mechanics in the Game at the Current Time
For those who may not know, Fortnite has been expanding for many years, bringing in new mechanics, new locations, and so much more, which can easily become confusing for players who aren’t used to the fast-paced action that is already included within the game.
With the addition of a first-person camera, it will likely become a feature that allows players to use the first-person perspective when using guns, but as they use certain items, abilities, and even major weapons, they will likely be pulled back into a third-person view.
For example, while players are gliding, they will likely be pulled back into a third-person perspective, whether they have chosen it or not, as it would defeat the point of having customization of a glider if you cannot see it.
Understandably, this would prove to be a rather complicated issue for Epic Games, but since this feature has only been teased through the State of Unreal 2024, we do not know the specifics of how it will work.
What do you think about the new first-person perspective coming to Fortnite? Are you looking forward to seeing through your character’s eyes? Let us know what you think in the comments.
