How did fans react to the new Call of Duty: Mobile map reveal?

Online multiplayer shooter games, whether they be first-person or third-person, often feature maps where the matches take place. One such map in Fortnite is called Mega City, a futuristic interpretation of the Japanese city and capital Tokyo, which also has vehicles like bikes and cars with a similar futuristic aesthetic. It launched on March 10th, 2023.

Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Mobile announced Season 8: Error 404, the latest major update in the game, and as part of the update announced a new map called Kurohana Metropolis and released some screenshots of the new city. Except that it wasn’t new at all, as many fans took to Twitter/X to point out similarities between Kurohana Metropolis and Mega City from Fortnite.

The Call of Duty: Mobile website describes the map as follows:

“Season 8 adds an original Multiplayer map with the launch of Kurohana Metropolis, a frenetic sci-fi-themed downtown area with lots of tight corners and interior spaces. Close-quarters combat reigns here, so plan your Loadout accordingly.”

The hi–tech, neon-soaked futuristic Kurohana Metropolis has clearly taken inspiration from Mega City, and fans have quickly caught on to that fact.

What else will Call of Duty: Mobile Season 8 include?

Apart from Kurohana Metropolis, Season 8: Error 404 will also introduce Headquarters mode a featured game mode whereas it was only available in private matches before the new update. Also known as King of the Hill mode, it requires players to capture and hold/defend the “hill”, or Headquarters. Victory is obtained in one of two ways: either a score limit is breached or having greater points at the end of a round.
