Ghost of Tsushima’s sequel is something fans of open-world action-adventure games have been looking forward to. The first game was a major success, climbing the charts of both PlayStation and Steam. While there’s not much information about the game itself, there’s a big update on its development cycle.
Based on recent reports, Sucker Punch Productions has been busy with not only Ghost of Tsushima 2 but also a beloved game’s return to modern platforms. If true, this can mean that we’re getting two potentially great games for the PlayStation 5. Possibly for PC, too.
Ghost of Tsushima 2 May Not Be the Only Priority for Sucker Punch
According to Radec on X, video game reporter Jeff Grubb has some interesting insights into the studio’s development and production cycle at the moment. While most of us have been eager about Ghost of Tsushima 2, the studio has reportedly been working on another project at the same time.
Fans of the classic game Sly Cooper will be happy to know that the team is likely working on a new entry for the series. However, this is purely a speculation, but not a surprising one. The only downside to this is that because of this partial focus on the game, the much-anticipated sequel might take a bit longer to reach us.

Reporter Jeff Grubb mentions there’s “smoke out there” about a new Sly game & suggests it could be why Ghost of Tsushima 2 might be taking a bit longer than expected

At the same time, Jason Schreier has also worded his opinion around this, claiming that modern video games simply take a lot of time to make and that’s the reason why the game is taking so long. This may have nothing to do with another game (unfortunately).
No truth to this one, sorry to say. Sucker Punch is a one-project studio. The reason Ghost of Tsushima 2 isn't out yet is because AAA video games now take 5-7 years to make. (Also, Sucker Punch is smaller than most other AAA game developers) https://t.co/5dlR5fcgZo

We’re yet to hear officially from the devs about any of this. In the meantime, fans of the older franchise can rejoice in a newfound hope for the franchise. On the other hand, Ghost of Tsushima fans may have an answer to what’s taking the game so long to arrive.
Can Sly Cooper Make a Comeback?
In retrospect, when the fourth game in the series, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time arrived, the studio was also actively working on conceptualizing the Infamous franchise. At the time of writing, if the rumors are indeed true, it feels like history is about to repeat itself.
Undoubtedly, the studio is full of talented minds who know how to craft great experiences. But, will a new platformer game even fit the needs of modern-day gaming? After all, it’s a little uncommon to see platformers that do stealth uniquely.
In fact, the Sly Cooper games are some of the few meticulously designed games that brought PlayStation to its glory days. Could the new game do the same? Absolutely. At present, the PlayStation 5 has a severe lack of good platformers, and a new game would be the perfect addition to the catalog.
Do you think these rumors are true? How would you feel if we had to wait a bit longer for new games from the studio? Let us know in the comments below.
