The game was originally announced in 2017 and then again during The Game Awards in 2019 after LCG Entertainment pulled Telltale Games from a rock-and-hard place. Details on the development have remained thin since. However, the latest images show the Fabletown sheriff Bigby Wolf in different situations and the gaming community has already started buzzing about it.

Fans’ expectations from the game are natural given it wasn’t just a great product they loved playing, it became a cult among the community. Besides this, it too received praise from critics for faithfulness to the source material. It was released in a series of Episodes throughout 2013 and 2014 with the first one receiving the highest ratings.

Telltale Killed the Deadline So The Game Remains Alive

Both TWAU2 and the rumored Ghost of Tsushima share one thing in common, fantastical creatures.

Telltale Games has been quiet over the game’s development for quite some time and they explained the reason for it in a community discussion. Interestingly, this was also where the Unreal Engine 2 screenshots were shared before Geoff Keighley made them viral.

In the forum, they wrote,

We’ve been quiet because we’ve been heads down, focusing on the promise of #TWAU2. While we can’t give a big update yet, here’s a little something for you: In-progress shots from the current build. The work continues. The Fabletown gang will be back. Thanks for being fans.

We got a proper look at the game in 2022 with the arrival of its trailer. While it was slated for a release the following year Telltale delayed it to prevent burnout among the members of the team. In essence, the long-dead game was being revived by killing the concept of deadline. Gamers are hoping for games like Ghost of Tsushima 2 which was rumored to arrive this year. However, with TWAU2 in sight, players are likely to forget about it for a while now.
