DCU has turned into an interesting place within a few months since James Gunn and Peter Safran officially started working on their newly created DC Studios within Warner Bros. Discovery. Announcing a robust plan that stretches over nearly ten years, Gunn and Safran have revealed relatively little about what’s coming out from the studio.
While fans thoroughly know about Superman: Legacy, which is under the first part of Chapter 1 of the DCU – Gods and Monsters, people know rather less about what’s coming after. It was previously reported by Variety that James Gunn’s DCU will feature titles starring lesser-known characters like Booster Gold. Now, shifting the spotlight from Superman: Legacy, fans got curious as scooper Daniel Richtman noted that Gunn has reportedly chosen the actor for the Booster Gold project.
James Gunn Has Reportedly Cast Booster Gold
Following the months after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over and newly crafted DC Studios within Warner Bros. Discovery., the duo announced their plan for the next ten years. Revealing the first 10 film and TV titles within the rebooted DC Universe, Gunn, and Safran divided phases and chapters like Marvel Studios. Calling the first part of Chapter 1 of the DCU, as Gods and Monsters, the DC bosses announced the titles to appear in that chapter.
According to reports from Variety, it was revealed that the first chapter will have titles based on marquee DC heroes, as well as lesser-known characters. It was noted that after Superman: Legacy, there will be a Batman and Robin movie, a Wonder Woman prequel series, and even a project featuring the lesser-known character Booster Gold.
Despite revealing the projects lined up for the next 10 years, fans were only receiving worthy updates about Superman: Legacy. That’s when a ray of hope appeared as rumors sparked about the upcoming Booster Gold project. Following the announcement of a live-action Booster Gold project in January 2023, industry scoopers began sparking speculations.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman, it was reported that Gunn has supposedly cast the actor to appear as the titular character in the upcoming project. Further, the news was corroborated by an X account Home of DCU, which eventually made fans lose their minds.
Fans Vote For Two Actors to Play Booster Gold
Wondering about who has been reportedly cast as Booster Gold in James Gunn’s upcoming project, fans came up with overall two names. The comments section under the X post was filled with votes for either Glen Powell or Alan Ritchson. Previously, after the announcement of a live-action Booster Gold project in January 2023, Powell was envisioned as Booster Gold in a stunning piece of fan art.

Willing to see the actor step into the superhero’s shoes, fans thus began voting for Powell. Meanwhile, a few netizens even voted for the Reacher star Alan Ritchson.
Glen Powell or Alan Ritchson – Who Will Be Better?
While fans have created artwork for both the actors as Booster Gold, and it looks absolutely iconic, it’s hard to determine who shall play the character better. Considering that Glen Powell‘s career trajectory hasn’t been quite as impressive, casting him as Booster Gold could further catapult his fame and cement him in Hollywood. Considering that he has a knack for action with the comedic timing, which Booster Gold readily demands, Powell could play the character flawlessly.
However, Alan Ritchson wouldn’t be a bad idea either, as we saw in an artwork from TristanHartup via Devianart. Given that the actor has also embodied action hero Jack Reacher in the Reacher series, Ritchson already has the well-built physique required to play a superhero role. Further, given his versatility and desire to appear in superhero flicks, the actor could don the Booster Gold costume in full glory. But as of now, nothing has been confirmed by James Gunn or Peter Safran about the Booster Gold project, so there’s still a doubt about who shall ultimately appear as the titular character.
