As the generation of consoles moves forward, it’s unsurprising to see more and more video games break free from the shackles of exclusivity. In light of the same, quite a few Xbox games are making their way to the PS5. Some of these are hopefully titles like Starfield.
In a recent video published by GamesIndustry.biz, things seem to be even clearer. The larger picture shows how the PS5 will continue to dominate the market in terms of demand and scale, eventually taking Xbox’s signature exclusives away. What remains to be seen is how Xbox navigates this cycle of change.
Good News for PlayStation Fans, but What About Xbox Fans?
The video was recently put out, discussing a few key components of how game titles are likely going to shift from an Xbox-only space to the PS5 in the near future. Based on the words of Chris Ding (head of GamesIndustry.biz), the future of Xbox seems bleak in the context of hardware.
Furthermore, Microsoft’s Xbox is performing poorly in Europe, giving PlayStation the headstart to many deals on different games and the promise of a future of several key entries and new franchises. On that note, some prominent titles from the platform have already arrived on the PS5.
Despite the appeal of Xbox Game Pass, the platform simply doesn’t seem to be sustainable enough for studios to invest their time and effort into. That’s where PlayStation comes in to save the day.
Furthermore, there have been talks about games like Starfield making that kind of jump, too.
Xbox Has Been Re-Evaluating Its Approach to Game Releases
Not too long ago, an Xbox podcast highlighted this very philosophy. Instead of focusing on more exclusive titles, the platform will now shift towards improving the accessibility and approach to its games.
Phil Spencer has been keen on seeing the future of the platform as something that’s free from any kind of exclusivity and instead looks forward to shaping it as something more.
There’s a bigger mention of ‘how‘ games are played rather than ‘what‘ they are played on. In the simplest terms, this is great news for PlayStation fans, as the console will keep receiving more titles and will hardly ever feel like it’s missing out on anything.
While Bethesda is simply one publisher that’s looking to test the waters with this jump, it’s likely that we’ll see more studios get on board, leading the PS5 to its victory as the more important console of its generation.
