Assassin’s Creed has gone through many changes and Ubisoft has made its fair share of questionable decisions which affected the franchise. It would appear that the franchise has thrown historical accuracy out the window and is going on a more unrealistic approach.

The game developer is actively working on multiple titles that are meant to be released in the following years and details of the 2026 entry are making fans worried. The apple has fallen far from the tree and fans are not happy about the shift in direction.

New details for an upcoming game that takes place in the Assassin’s Creed universe will dabble with sorcery and witchcraft which are quite out of reach for a once-grounded and history-focused franchise.

Fans are quick to show their stance on the changes and are upset by the gaming company’s downfall. Some fans are beginning to question how these new details are appealing to the core identity of the franchise.

They feel it is just another game with a title holder to drive sales and generate hype and attention. The gaming community is beyond uninterested in what the developers have to offer this year and would rather play something else like the unofficial Ghost of Tsushima sequel instead.

It is quite saddening to see one of the top game developers in years have deviated too far and lost the connection with its fans. Controlling animals is one thing but the integration and use of magic have been unheard of before in the franchise and do not sit well with the community.

The developers already have a hefty roadmap with several other titles in development and fans are not too excited with the changes already being made. The entertainment industry has taken a toll on gaming and it seems like many other creatives and developers are finally running out of ideas and resorted to a different kind of inspiration.

These titles used to be history and exploration but it seems like the developers are taking a step back in the wrong direction that could have severe ramifications for the future. Others could argue that these creative changes are for the better and a step forward to avoid relying on themes the franchise has been known for.

These drastic changes are sending a good message but it already deviated too far by the use of sorcery. It has led to fans being happy with the change in a beloved universe that focuses on authenticity and history.

Fans have the right to react and be vocal about something they feel strongly against, and developers can either listen and adapt or take the high road and do what is necessary. Some changes can be good but not if it is contradicting an ideal that was long-established and respected universe.
