GTA 6 will most undoubtedly be the standout release of the year, no matter when it launches. The reason is the title’s hype and the series’ track record. The game’s expected release date is Q1 2025, and it is almost certain that no other title will be released close to it, as it would risk a clash.
However, upcoming titles for significant franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty are known to be coming. With several months between 2024 and 2025, Q4 2024 seems to be the perfect time to release high-profile video games, which could make for a happening holiday season for gamers.
GTA 6 Might Cause Titles Like Call of Duty Gulf War and Assassin’s Creed Shadows Come Out in Q4 2024
As mentioned, the title is expected to arrive in Q1 2025, as per reports and rumors in the industry, despite no official confirmation. But if it is expected to come in Q1 2025, it would be a suicide mission for any company to release their game close to GTA 6.
That is because it would, almost guaranteed, lead to an underwhelming spell in opening sales. However, as said earlier, titles from popular series are known to be coming; for example, Shadows was almost confirmed to be coming on November 15, and Wario64 shared the leak.
The leak’s origin was the announcement trailer’s description, which has yet to premiere but has already been listed on YouTube. Since then, the trailer’s description has also been changed.
Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War is also most likely to be revealed at Xbox’s Summer Games Fest, 2024. Moreover, other Xbox Exclusives like Indiana Jones, Avowed, Ark 2, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 are also expected to be released in Q4 2024.
Why GTA 6’s Release Is Such a Big Deal for the Industry
Rockstar Games has released some phenomenal games in the past. The GTA series, however, has always been in a territory that only select games can reach. No title or series holds such a firm hold of the open-world genre as GTA.
Also, the trailer and the resultant speculation being extrapolated from it were enough of a spectacle for the world to see. And given the time Rockstar Games has taken with the game, it will surprise no one if it is considered the release of the year as and when it does come out.
Moreover, the current state of the video games industry is deplorable regarding AAA gaming. The sole reason is that most AAA studios are owned by some of the industry’s mammoths, who are doubling down on revenue and profit.
With so much focus on profit and revenue, studios are closed, and layoffs are announced. Indeed, no publisher would want to risk going head-to-head with the 8th biggest video game company in the entire world.
