Rockstar Games has everyone on the edge of their seats with the upcoming launch of the long-awaited GTA 6, a title that could change everything like GTA 5 did a couple of years ago. The rumors about the Take-Two Interactive studio delaying GTA 6 to 2026 were very strong.
Kotaku was the first media outlet to report this, talking about how they have different sources that confirmed this. Apparently, this is untrue; the game continues to aim for a 2025 release with no indication of a Q1 release, and there are no sources or people from Rockstar Games that indicate otherwise.
GTA 6 could easily come in 2025, but delay rumors were not so solid, according to close sources from Rockstar Games
The Grand Theft Auto franchise is probably the most profitable videogame IP ever; with only GTA 5, Rockstar Games has sold more than 190 million units worldwide across three different console generations. So the expectations for GTA 6 are really high—even higher than the previous entry.
One of the things that GTA 5 has is one of the biggest budgets for any videogame ever, with 265 million dollars. The next Rockstar Games title will be even more expensive, and players are very hyped about this one. Last year, Rockstar Games announced that GTA 6 would be available sometime in 2025, but rumors are circulating that this release date may not be achievable.
Reddit user ilorybss posted about an article that talks about how Kotaku was not entirely honest about the possible delay of GTA 6 to 2026, some users were less than impressed with the possibility of another delay.
But according to close Rockstar Games sources, there is no clue or mention of a delay; apparently, the studio schedule for the game is going smoothly with no setbacks. Even earlier news talked about how the Rockstar team had to go back to the offices to really focus on ending GTA 6.
GTA 6 will probably not have any delays from now on
Rockstar Games has not yet revealed which quarter of the year will see the release of GTA 6. Since Rockstar Games never mentioned the first quarter, there’s no need to hastily draw conclusions about the current status of the game. Players are not panicking about this; Kotaku is losing credibility.
On Reddit, other players replied to this discussion, talking about how fun it will be to see how all kinds of news will be released if GTA 6 reaches a 2025 launch. If the game suffers a delay, it will not be the first time for a Rockstar title, with multiple instances in the past of them having to delay releases. With the recent news that Rockstar are forcing workers back into the office to ensure this doesn’t happen. it’ll be interesting to see what does occur.
