Anime is an enormous source of entertainment and has numerous genres that fans can choose from. One of the most prominent genres is sports, where Haikyu hails as one of the best, if not the best, sports anime ever. The franchise recently released a new movie, which is already breaking records.
The latest addition to the Haikyu franchise, Haikyu: Battle at the Garbage Dump, broke a major record on its very first day of release. The movie accumulated ¥890M yen on the first day, significantly higher than the latest Demon Slayer: Hashira training arc movie.
Haikyu: The Dumpster Battle beats Demon Slayer: Mugen Train in terms of first-day box office collection
The sports genre has a wide variety of options to choose from as a viewer, ranging from football, basketball, swimming, volleyball, and more. Numerous anime in the sports genre are amazing, but none hold a candle to Haikyu.
The anime series, which began in 2014 and animated by Production I.G., didn’t take much time to become a massive hit among the audience. The franchise quickly rose to prominence and released four more seasons before concluding.
Fans were wondering what was next, luckily, two new movies were announced that would adapt the remaining chapters of the manga. The film, Haikyu: Battle at the Garbage Dump, opened on February 16, and it jumped straight into the history books in Japan.
The movie started shattering records on its opening day and accumulated ¥890M yen, equivalent to six million dollars, the fourth highest in history. It sits behind Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, One Piece: Film Red, and Jujutsu Kaisen.
It also snubbed the latest and upcoming Demon Slayer: Hashira training arc movie, which collected around ¥640M yen, according to Anime News Network. This came as a surprise to a lot of the audience, considering the massive popularity of Koyoharu Gotouge’s magnum opus.
It would be very interesting to see how well the latest Haikyu movie performs until the end of its theoretical run.
Haikyu: The Dumpster Battle movie international release date
Haikyu: The Dumpster Battle will animate the impending battle between Karasuno High and Nekoma High at the Tokyo National Tournament. With both sides eager to win this tie, the clash between these two giants is going to be a treat to watch as an audience.
The long-awaited battle at the garbage dump would finally conclude, and it would be an amazing experience to see which team overcomes their opponent and moves one step closer to the trophy.
The movie was released in Japan this month, and many fans are wondering when it will be released in other countries. Haikyu is a very big franchise and has millions of viewers scattered around the world.
Unfortunately, a release date for the international audience has not been stated yet, but an announcement is expected soon. Fans can expect to see this masterpiece within 2024 and may need to wait for official dates.
