The production of the long-awaited Man of Steel 2, which had begun to seem like a lost hope for the DC Extended Universe fandom, has finally gotten underway. The Henry Cavill starring DCU film will now be one among a long list of projects that will hopefully transform the down-on-its-luck DC and Warner Bros. duo into a new and improved tour de force. The only missing aspect now is the guide at the helm of the project.

WB Begins Director Hunting For Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel 2

With Henry Cavill‘s re-entry into orbit, it almost feels like Kal-El’s first journey from one hopelessly doomed planet to another in need of saving. Like reality mirroring fiction, the actor who gave his audience the most loved, albeit tragically gloomy, Superman now bears the responsibility of bringing back hope for billions who have long awaited their savior’s return. The DCU not only looks to the future but strives for a better one that demands a fresh start and more effective management than the DCEU of the past.

The Sorting Hat has begun its search for the new director for Man of Steel 2 and Warner Bros. might not have to search far and wide as rumors indicate they may have found a match in Harry Potter‘s very own David Yates. Renowned for his work on 4 Harry Potter films and all three Fantastic Beasts spin-off movies, Yates currently ranks high in the franchise’s choice for a director who can usher in a worthy follow-up to the story of 2013’s Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder.

Man of Steel 2: Rumored Plot Details and Release Date

Currently, not much is known about the extent of what DC has mapped out for Henry Cavill’s future within the universe. But Superman remains a driving force for the narrative’s development, given how Black Adam has now stepped into the battlefield. With The Rock teasing his on-screen character’s unstoppable power, only Superman will now be able to put up a barrier between the ancient anti-hero and what’s to come in case the latter decides to renegotiate the terms of his territorial confinement in this world.

That sets up the plot for a showdown between Black Adam and Superman, although Man of Steel 2 is more likely to focus on the Kryptonian’s journey of healing and reassessment in the aftermath of the events of the first film. The impact of Superman’s trauma after he is forced to kill Zod will play a major role in his growth and development as a hero who symbolizes peace and stands as a beacon of hope for the people of his world.

Henry Cavill has also been rumored to make an appearance in Ezra Miller‘s The Flash which will play into the Flashpoint paradox. The film then holds the potential to erase every connection to the SnyderVerse and renew the titular heroes of the Justice League for a fresh start in a new DCU.
