The Star Wars franchise is truly one of a kind with millions of fans worldwide. Natalie Portman saw the acceptance of the fandom first-hand when she joined the franchise as Padme Amidala in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.
Portraying the role of Luke and Leia Skywalker’s mother, the actress had a very wholesome meeting with actor Mark Hamill at the Golden Globes. Recalling the experience, Portman revealed that Hamill called her “his mother” (on-screen) and they had a very pleasant meeting!

Well, the duo does portray the role of mother and son since Padme Amidala was the mother of Luke and Leia Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise. Padme Amidala, who was the love of Anakin Skywalker was the on-screen mother of Luke and Leia had quite a significant role in the lore of the franchise.
Natalie Portman, who met Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) at the Golden Globes of the movie revealed that she had a very sweet meeting with the actor. According to X (formerly Twitter), the actress revealed that when Hamill met her at the Golden Globes, Hamill referred to her as his mother!
“He called me his mother. It was the coolest thing…[Carrie Fisher] was such an icon of mine. And this was my first time meeting Mark.”
Although she had an exceptional performance as Padme Amidala in the Star Wars franchise, the actress revealed that another movie was an important film for her. Stating that the movie had a great impact on her, Portman revealed that Breaking the Waves was quite an extreme movie!
Natalie Portman Feels One Movie To Be Extreme!
Back in 1996, actress Emily Watson starred in a film titled Breaking the Waves. Although Portman is known for portraying the extreme role of a ballerina in Black Swan, she revealed in an interview with A-Frame that the performance in the 1996 movie was an all-time favorite of her!
“Breaking the Waves was a really important film for me in terms of the way the story’s told and the acting of Emily Watson. It’s one of my all-time favorite performances. It’s so extreme, and yet believable what she does.”
She further continued,
“And then the way the story’s told — with the intervals with music over those postcard images — is just so punk, and in between a classically-told story. It really impacted me a lot.”
Starring in the role of Padme Amidala in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Portman’s career skyrocketed upwards. Starring alongside Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor, the 2002 film is available to stream on Disney+ in the U.S.
