Ryan Reynolds is one of the biggest personalities in Hollywood, and that is not only because of his professional achievements. Being an exceptionally talented actor, he has starred in many massively successful projects like his work as The Proposal, Free Guy, Red Notice, and most famously, Deadpool. Outside of this, however, he is known for his extremely unique personality and possessing the most unique sense of humor.
While his comedic personality is certainly one of the more famously known aspects of the actor, it is important to know that as funny as he is, he is also a good person. This was showcased recently, after the actor’s kind gesture towards Irish footballer, Anthony Forde, has many in tears.
Anthony Forde’s World Was Turned Upside Down
It was recently revealed the reason why Anthony Forde, best known as the Wrexham defender, missed a portion of last season; was due to his wife, Laura Jane Mangan. It was revealed that the pair received life-changing news in the worst way possible after she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. The footballer’s wife revealed that she noticed a problem in her left arm related to its coordination, that was causing her distress.
Feeling like something was off, Mangan went to the doctor to get an MRI, only to find out that there was a mass in her brain, resulting in her getting diagnosed with a brain tumor. What made it all the worse was the fact that she was told that it was not curable, inoperable, and would result in her, having a short life expectancy.
Ryan Reynolds’ Kind Gesture Helped the Player
This news was devastating for the family, so much so, that Ryan Reynolds, could not see them in so much pain. Trying to help them weigh all of their options, as per Daily Mail, the actor organized a second opinion for them to compare and make sure that the diagnosis they received was accurate. It would seem that this was the right way to go as the second opinion, which resulted in Laura Jane Mangan going through a biopsy, made her find out that she, in fact, had a grade 1 Thalamic pilocytic astrocytoma, a benign brain tumor.
“It just didn’t feel like it was real. The gaffer told the owners about the news and they reached out. Ryan helped get a second opinion. It’s something that he doesn’t have to do, he doesn’t have to do that.”
While this may not seem like that big of a difference, in actuality, it is as this type of brain tumor is a lot less fatal than the one that she was initially diagnosed with. During an interview with Welcome to Wrexham, Anthony Forde talked about how grateful he and his wife were to Reynolds, mentioning that his second opinion may have saved his wife’s life. He even added the actor had no reason to do what he did, however, he did it anyway.
