Many MCU actors have been known to use steroids to constantly maintain a lean and superhuman physique for multiple films. Evans has also been speculated by audiences of using steroids to maintain the great physical shape he’s in. However, it seems Evans went completely old school to portray Captain America.

Chris Evans transformed into the role of Captain America in 2011. He developed a big muscular physique to convince audiences of him being a supersoldier. His transformation was incredibly surprising and admirable which led to some fans speculating that the actor must have used steroids to maintain that physique for multiple films.

In a video by Buff Dudes, two bodybuilders talked about the physical transformations of actors who have played superheroes. Evans’ case is one where they say that the actor did the old school approach working hard at the gym and attaining a naturally big and muscular body. The bodybuilders said,

“Some of the transformations in this list I don’t feel can be achieved naturally, especially in the short window these guys have to completely transform their bodies. A lot of them not really having been former athletes not really been gymgoers. Three months 30 pounds a muscle…You look at someone in my personal opinion, like Chris Evans in the first Captain America in Winter Soldier.

He’s very natural. Chris Evans has been in shape for almost like his whole life. In all the movies he’s in, he’s in great shape. He has a great body and he works out whether he likes it or not. I think he went on record saying that he doesn’t enjoy working out but got great genetics either way.”

All the rumors and allegations of Evans using steroids can be put to rest as his efforts to attain a naturally big and muscular physique have been admired by these bodybuilders themselves. He is one of the rare actors who have done it the old-school way while many have resorted to steroids to maintain muscular physiques for multiple films.

Chris Evans recently got married to actress Alba Baptista. Since being married, he seems to have slowed down on his acting ventures as he has not signed a new film this year. He talked to GQ about wanting to work less and enjoy life at home with family and friends. He said,

“Ultimately I really hope to just maybe act a little bit less in my life. I have a lot of other interests. Look, by no means have I climbed any sort of a mountain in this field. I have no Oscars and I’m not lumped with other names that are at the top of the mountain in any way. But I also feel very satisfied.”

I like autonomous things. I’d like to just smoke a joint, put on some music, and like, get into pottery. You know what I mean? Seth Rogen, what he’s doing. It’s good for you, man. You just go to your workshop and make something. And how satisfying, how simple, how quotidian. I love acting, but you can’t act alone. I chose a profession that requires not just a lot of different artists, but it requires an audience.”

Evans appeared in two films this year including Apple’s Ghosted and Netflix’s Pain Hustlers. Both films were not received positively by critics and audiences. He still has Amazon’s Red One slated to release sometime this year where he stars alongside Dwayne Johnson.
