As Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels was released it was critically panned. However, it  has managed to become a fan favorite in recent times. The film features Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, and Samuel L. Jackson, some of the most renowned names in the film industry. It has already won the hearts of the fans despite having poor CGI, the chemistry of the main cast saves the day.

However, some haters of the film, give some unwanted criticism to Nia DaCosta stating how she is unfit to direct big projects under a big name like Marvel Studiosas she has never worked on a successful big project. Adding how her first big film was a flop at the box office as well.

People Bomb Nia DaCosta with Unjust Criticism

As The Marvels was released in the theatres, the film gathered mixed responses from the fans and mostly negative responses from the critics as they unremorsefully bashed the film for its flaws and poor CGI. In contrast, the film gathered an 85% score from the audience on Rotten Tomatoes, as they found the film entertaining to watch.

However, some of the haters were not having it, as they went onto Twitter to highlight her with unwarranted criticism. A user (@__RiseAgain__) tweeted how she had “directed only one feature before” which happened to be the 2021 horror film, Candyman but that was also a flop.

However, fans were quick to jump to support Nia DaCosta on the social media platform, as a fan tweeted that the tweet is factually incorrect in a plethora of ways and that the film is her third feature film, while her 2021 film has a rating of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Another fan tweeted that DaCosta’s 2018 crime drama film has a 95% score on Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes.

Another fan called the hater a “nasty racist and misogynist” as well as an ignorant who can’t even have a factually correct tweet.

Another user factually corrects them, and questions how jealous they are with the success of Nia DaCosta.

A fan stated that they hate her because she broke through the patriarchal society.

The unwanted comment was unjustified as a factually wrong tweet would create misinformation about The Marvels’ director, and commenting on her race and gender for her opportunities is wrong for them to criticize her.

Nia DaCosta Criticizes Marvel’s Multiverse Approach

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues with its Multiverse saga, new projects, and series are being released. Until now the saga has failed to impress the ardent MCU fans as most of the projects have failed to make a lasting impact in the box office as well as in the minds of the viewers. While Nia DaCosta has directed The Marvels she has some serious criticism on the multiverse.

During an exclusive interview with Total Film magazine via Gamesradar, Nia DaCosta stated that she is not a big fan of the multiverse excursions saying it “was always very stressful to me.” Though it is true because the multi-dimensions make the movie somewhat confusing and difficult to understand, it would vary from person to person who wants a complicated yet enjoyable film consisting of their favorite superheroes.
