James Gunn is working relentlessly for the release of David Corenswet’s Superman: Legacy which has been directed by James Gunn himself. Well, not only is the director working hard but the music composer of the film, John Murphy, has also poured his blood and sweat into composing the music.
The news that Murphy is giving the movie his all in terms of music and score, might upset some fans as they go down the legendary score of Hans Zimmer. Composing the score of Man of Steel, Zimmer’s score is considered one of the best, and fans are worried that Murphy might not achieve that level of greatness!
Fans Hope James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy Is Good Enough!
It was the brilliance of Hans Zimmer who gave the legendary score in the 2013 film Man of Steel which was helmed by director Zack Snyder and lead actor Henry Cavill. Music composer John Murphy is currently attached as the music director of Superman: Legacy and fans are worried.
Well, John Murphy is known for composing the score for James Gunn’s 2023 film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and it is not that big of an achievement compared to Hans Zimmer. With James Gunn praising John Murphy for working tirelessly on the score of Superman: Legacy, people aren’t so hopeful about the upcoming film’s score and how Hans Zimmer would have done it differently!

I would say the score was always one of the weaker factor in the Guardians trilogy but let’s see what he comes up with

Well, hopefully, John Murphy and James Gunn will be able to handle things and not ruin the legacy of Superman that Zack Snyder has spent 8 years in the making. This reminds people of the time when Hans Zimmer wasn’t really up to the task of wanting to score the music for Man of Steel until Zack Snyder convinced him otherwise!
Hans Zimmer Wasn’t Really Involved in Man of Steel’s Score!
Before sitting down to compose the ultimate theme for Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, Hans Zimmer had his own barriers to break. Comparing the 2013 movie to just another Superman story, Zimmer revealed in an interview with The Direct that he was impressed by how different Snyder’s story was.
“I sat down with Zack, and I said, ‘Tell me the story,’ which was so different and so much more about things that I knew about.”
Hans Zimmer went on to work on the soundtrack of Batman VS Superman: Dawn of Justice and Wonder Woman 1984. On the other hand, the world ecstatically awaits what John Murphy and James Gunn have in store for Superman: Legacy. The David Corenswet starrer is slated for a release date of 11 July 2025 in the U.S.
