Chris Tucker Joked On Jackie Chan’s Humble Nature
Actor/comedian Chris Tucker doesn’t shy away from making a moment of comedy wherever he shows up. Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers while celebrating the 25th anniversary of the first installment of the Rush Hour franchise, he candidly joked about his co-star Jackie Chan’s humble nature.
“I was so excited, man because I knew that I could put my comedy with Jackie Chan’s martial arts, and it would be fantastic. But it’s the 25th anniversary of the first Rush Hour. And, man, it don’t – It seem a long time ago, but Jackie was so kind and so nice. He would give me a gift every day on the first Rush Hour set. He would send me over a gift, a different gift. I said, ‘Man, what is this? Part of his culture?’ He’s so nice. Then I realized he’s from China. They make everything over there, he’s getting it for free anyway,” Tucker joked.
Further, the actor said, “He wasn’t paying for nothing.” However, Tucker also joked about himself, at least his financial status relating to the events at the set of the first Rush Hour. “He’s looking out the window, like, ‘Look at Chris Tucker. He gonna go broke trying to keep up with me,’” he added. For Tucker, his role in the film would remain one of his career-best performances sharing astonishing chemistry with Chan.

“He’s the man, Jackie owns everything he’s like ‘You like hotel?’ he said, ‘You like hotel?’ I say, ‘Yeah.’ ‘It’s my hotel that’s my hotel.’ No, I got to do more movies, yeah and then he was like ‘Why are you over here?’ So, ‘I came to see you what do you think I’m here for? You are the only person I know in China.’”
Tucker further revealed that Chan “walks around with like 15 people” and he was behind all of them, at times he had to shout when Chan would reply hurry up. But Tucker admitted that he had fun with his Rush Hour co-star to the fullest.
