Xbox Series console exclusive Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will be launching later this year. Fans of these consoles are pretty enthused about this upcoming game. There’s without a doubt a very good reason for them to be excited about it. The biggest one is the most obvious one: Hellblade 2. It’s a sequel to one of the best games that launched on the last generation of consoles.

The second reason is that it is the first massive exclusive title that will be launching for the Xbox console in months. The last big exclusive title that launched on this platform was Starfield, a game that launched to a polarizing response. But now a new development suggests that fans might want to play Hellblade 2 on PC rather than Xbox consoles.

The developer has consulted and taken the feedback on the first game in notice for the sequel.
Hellblade 2 is putting Unreal Engine 5 to good use

The first game in the Hellblade franchise was launched back in 2017. Developer Ninja Theory had developed that game using Unreal Engine 4, and it looked incredible. It was a psychological thriller with light hack-and-slash combat and puzzle mechanics.

It was launched to an incredibly positive response from both critics and fans of the developer. And it eventually became a success too. The developers proudly called that game “indie AAA.” Eventually, Microsoft purchased Ninja Theory and gave them resources to make a real AAA game.

That’s when the work started on Hellblade 2. And from the very first trailer, this game looks like a real triple-A title. It looks massive, and it looks photorealistic. This is all thanks to the game being built on Unreal Engine 5.

A while ago, the game was praised by Xbox boss Phill Spencer too. He said the game was coming out well, suggesting this game will definitely make its announced May launch date. But fans still have a bunch of questions lingering in their minds.

How would this game run on Xbox consoles? How much difference would there be between each console version? And finally, how much would Hellblade 2’s PC version stand out from its usual console counterparts?

It turns out the answers to these questions were pretty close too. Recently, it was revealed through an early preview of the game that Hellblade 2 would run at 30 fps on both Xbox series S and X. It is being said that the developers chose these limitations to give their fans a more cinematic feel while playing this story-heavy game.

They are relating this to the movies that are usually limited to a 24 fps framerate. This is not unusual for a developer to make such suggestions, though. They are often seen making these claims. Years ago, when Ubisoft launched Assassin’s Creed: Unity, they even limited the PC version of that game to 30 fps for the “cinematic feel.”

But it looks like, in Hellblade 2’s case, this limitation would not be enforced on PC gamers. They would be able to play their game as they wanted. Given that their PC has high enough specs to run this game at 60 fps.

It would not be hard to get a PC version of this game

The good news for all the Hellblade fans out there is that this is a first-party Xbox game, which means they will get the PC version alongside the Xbox version. Especially if they have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

They would be able to play the game for free on day one and get the PC version of the game without paying anything extra. For everyone hyped up for it, Hellblade 2 will be launching on May 21, 2024.
