Helldivers 2 is a title appreciated by gamers and critics alike. Arrowhead Game Studios developed the third-person co-op PvE title, which is available only on PS5 and PC. The title is appreciated for its engaging gameplay loop and the narrative, which isn’t as deep but is still very engaging.
Johan Pilestedt, the CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios, can be seen posting on his X account as if he is also part of the game’s lore. When not doing so, he also tweets about fan-made montages and shares his stories. The CEO recently shared a memory of playing a game dear to many gamers.
Helldivers 2’s Johan Pilesteadt Reminisces About His Childhood and Final Fantasy VII
One glance at the CEO’s Twitter account reveals he doesn’t take himself too seriously and likes keeping things jolly and upbeat by acting like a representative from the game’s Ministry of Intelligence.
He also posts other content, such as a fan-made cinematic captured in the game, which many other players appreciate. Also, when the game recently announced a new enemy class of flying bugs, Pilestedt confirmed it.
This time, the CEO reacted to a player who said they were playing Helldivers 2 for over 8 hours straight. In doing so, he reminisced about his childhood and how he used to play Final Fantasy VII for hours.:
The title by Pilestedt has gained traction partly because of its excellent game design and responsiveness to users’ needs. This is mainly because, as is evident from Pilestedt’s tweets, he is a gamer, too, so he understands how gamers think and what they want in an enjoyable game.
“A game for everyone is a game for no one.”, says Helldivers 2 CEO Johan Pilestedt
It seems that this approach is precisely what the CEO and the studio went for while creating the title, and needless to say, it worked like a charm. Arguably referred to as one of the best live service games recently, Helldivers 2 has managed to charm gamers in a way few games can.
Also, the title is constantly getting new content; for example, the newly added planetary hazards added an extra layer of unpredictability, and fans were all for it. After all, the further one goes from the planet one calls home, the more challenging the survival difficulty.
Only time will tell if the title is a contender for GotY, as many fans are excited to be, or if another game will take that accolade instead. But there are still three quarters left in the year, so nothing can be said for sure right now. Have you played Helldivers 2? Or, like Pilestedt, is there a game you can play or even grind for hours?
