As the Helldivers 2 army continues their relentless fight against formidable foes, one Reddit user felt their side of the fight needed more tools to gain the upper hand in this war.
They proposed a couple of outrageous stratagem ideas, and while intended as a joke, these suggestions were liked by some of the community. It sparked a lively debate among players, and it would be interesting if some of these actually ended up in the game.
Helldivers 2 Player’s ‘Silly’ Stratagem Suggestions Are Not So Bad
In a post titled ‘We need more Sentries,’ Reddit user Snarfbuckle relayed some stratagem ideas for Helldivers 2 that are somewhere between completely silly and brilliant.
From Fire Mortar Sentries to Flamer Rovers, the list seemed like a recipe for chaos, especially considering Helldivers 2’s notorious friendly fire mechanic. Who wouldn’t want to accidentally incinerate their entire squad with a misplaced Flamethrower Sentry?
The whole list includes a flamethrower sentry, fire mortar sentry, grenade launcher sentry, automatic fire shotgun sentry, gas grenade launcher sentry, and laser cannon sentry.
The post was later edited the post to include a flamer rover, cluster mortar incendiary, 380mm napalm artillery strike, and an incendiary rocker rover with knockback.
The OP concluded by saying, “Because having a larger option of team killing weapons never stops being fun.”
Despite being made with some obvious humorous undertones, some Helldivers 2 players surprisingly found themselves nodding in agreement with the post’s sentiments.
The Community Wants More Destructive Stratagems
When OP’s ideas garnered attention, it opened a floodgate revealing the community’s overwhelming desire for better weaponry. Comments swooped in, with players expressing their ideas for new and improved stratagems.
One user dreamed of a rocket sentry that packs a punch, while another pined for a heavy flamethrower sentry with extended range.

A reply to this idea suggested that the animation could be something like injured Helldivers being shot with power washer-type equipment that sends out a high-pressure stream of liquid to heal. And making it even more ridiculous, another reply added that the power washer sentry could cause Helldivers to ragdoll.
The desire for something new went so deep, that several people didn’t even suggest new ideas, but started complaining about the AI for the pre-existing ones.

So, one thing is painfully clear: people want change, in both pre-existing weapons and future ones. Since the start, the community has openly shared their suggestions for new weapons and for improving old ones.
And who knows? Johan Pilestedt, CEO of Arrowhead Studios, being as active and involved in the community as he already is, could be taking note of all these suggestions. In Helldivers 2, anything is possible; even seeing some of the OP’s hilarious stratagem proposals in-game wouldn’t be out of the ordinary.
