Helldivers 2 is still going strong, around two months after its launch. Its player count is as strong as it could be, and its developers continue to make sure this game remains as fun to play as it was during its launch. They have been introducing new stuff to Helldivers 2 with every passing day.
As fun as this game is, it’s equally challenging, and fans often find themselves struggling to complete some missions. Sometimes they would see too much resistance, and other times enemy reinforcements would be too strong to defeat. And sometimes they would see the kind of challenge that they had never seen before; that’s what Helldivers 2 players are facing right now.
Helldivers 2’s new objectives are giving players a hard time
Arrowhead Game Studios has been adding various kinds of missions to their game. With each new mission, this ever-growing world keeps on getting as challenging as one can imagine a game to be. The latest objectives in Helldivers 2 represent just that.
These objectives are divided into certain categories, and one of those categories is one that asks players to destroy an objective. They would be asked to destroy this or that, and once it is done, obviously the mission is over. But it’s not always easy.
Usually, they would go around and bring a bunch of explosives and drop them on their objective. Once the target is in shambles, the mission is considered done. But sometimes the game would give them a target that was very hard to destroy.
This is what happened when players accepted the mission to destroy Automaton gunships. For those unaware, these massive gunships started appearing in the game a while ago, and no one was happy about them. They turned out to be harder than expected to destroy.
A bunch of players on Reddit named keiXrome even went about discussing how painful it is to destroy these tough-skinned machines. One Redditor summed up his turmoil pretty clearly by explaining how he failed in his task again and again.
“To clarify – every single “destroy” task can be achieved by dropping big bang in certain area. Shrieker nests, spore shrooms, rogue facility, bunkers, AA-guns, mortar centry, stratagem jammer, location tower – everything is destroyable on direct hit with high explosions… Except this thing.
Tried dropping back to back 500 bombs in different angles, locations and directions – still not good. Are they even breakable?”
They then went on to list everything that they tried dropping on those ships in hopes of destroying them but failed.
- 500 bombs: 16 times in a row
- 380 orbitals: 6 times
- Orbital laser: 1 time (useless)
- Precision strike: 8 times
- EAT-17: 30 times
- Quazar Cannon
- Dominator
Yet, they never succeeded. It looks like developer Arrowhead Game Studios decided to serve their fans a tough nut. And fans are finding this nut very hard to crack.
Despite all the demotivating attempts that players made on this ship, some kept on trying. And after trying several times, one player found an answer. They suggested that the only way to destroy these ships was to drop hellbombs on them.
Using Hellbomb in itself is a challenge for players
It is pretty interesting that this very hard target in Helldivers 2 can only be destroyed by using hellbombs. Calling in hellbombs and then using them is not a piece of cake. In fact, it’s pretty hard, as players have to input a code into them to start the countdown.
In between this whole process, enemy forces can start attacking the hellbomb and destroy it in a jiffy. This is how the developers have assured that they will give players a real challenge when it comes to missions.
