The fight for democracy in Helldivers 2 has been going strong, and when players would have thought it couldn’t get any worse, game master Joel has proved them wrong. After the sight of mysterious cloaked ships, the war is ready to escalate again with the Automatons.

Despite the players’ best efforts to hold the Automaton war front, the Automatons are now pushing through. Players are getting wrecked again as the enemies now come with AT-AT tanks like the ones in Star Wars, and it’s only the first of the problems.

The Automatons in Helldivers 2 Have Got a New Unit That’s Wreaking Havoc

The latest patch in the game brought several balance updates and changes to missions, weapons, stratagems, and enemies, among other things. It also added planetary hazards such as blizzards and sandstorms. But the developers also stealthily added new automaton units as per sightings by Helldivers 2 players.

Players have noticed that massive, four-legged, heavily armored tanks like AT-ATs, called Factory Striders, have been added to the game. These new units are attacking players with laser cannons that turn players into melted cheese in seconds, and they can also fire blasters at the front, destroying anything and everything in front of them.

If that wasn’t enough, these massive tanks can also deploy Devastator shock troops from their undercarriage, so there’s no chance for any Helldiver to escape alive. Moreover, these are very hard to take down as players haven’t been able to locate weak spots that are of any help, with many saying that they have absolutely no idea how to go about it.

However, some players have said that the Factory Striders take damage with the use of heavy stratagems such as the Eagle 500kb Bomb and anti-armor support weapons like rocket launchers and the Quasar Cannon. So players are in for a tough battle if they are unlucky enough to encounter the big bad boy.

Gunships Are Also Raining Fire From the Sky on the Helldivers

Gunships are also added that fire missiles and lasers from the sky.

Along with the new Factory Striders, gunships are also now wandering around the skies, shooting down the Helldivers on automaton planets. These gunships come after the latest Super Earth High Command, in which the Automatons broadcast blueprints for the aircraft to an unknown location.

The gunships act as support for the Automaton troops on the ground and attack the players with missiles and lasers, but these are relatively easier to take down than the Striders. Players just need to have a support weapon with armor penetration capability, and they’re good to go.

Players have also said that the gunships being around means that there are more Automatons around the place. These are also stationary at places that will help players take their shot easily to bring them down, but that doesn’t mean they are easy to fight as their armors are buffed by 5–10%, making them formidable enemies to go against in Helldivers 2.

Did you come across any of these two new units yet? Let us know in the comments.
