Helldivers 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the beloved cooperative top-down shooter, has been the talk of the gaming community since its release.
While players have been busy fighting the anti-democratic forces of the universe to spread managed democracy, a recent discovery has sent shockwaves through the community, showcasing a little-known feature (or a bug?) that puts players in a bizarre-enough position that could induce a fear of space.
Helldivers 2 Players Figure Out They Fall Into Space
The revelation surfaced through a tweet shared by a player who stumbled upon a peculiar ‘feature’ while playing Helldivers 2.
Didn't know we could kick people out the cargo bay @Pilestedt @helldivers2 @HelldiversAlert @Helldivers2HQ pic.twitter.com/UtZozhOl4p

The players accidentally kicked themselves out of the cargo bay, plummeting into the vast and empty expanse of space.
While that was already shocking, a haunting sight unfolded before their eyes. Below, Earth appeared distant yet gradually drew closer; meanwhile, all the spaceships above got farther away, fading into the infinite void of space that stretched above.

The contrast between the two scenes could genuinely create a sense of dread for anyone who’s already a little scared of space.
A few other players had a similar experience, but one, in particular, had a much more humorous take on the situation compared to others.
In HellDivers 2, Right after the match end screen, my character fell from the roof of the ship, his his ribs with the hand rails, rag dolled his way out the ship, and hell dived his way to the planet.

After concluding a match, the player unexpectedly plummeted from the roof of the ship, colliding with the handrails, and awkwardly rag-dolled their way out of the ship, comically diving towards the planet below.
While this might seem a bit frustrating to experience, especially for people who haven’t played Helldivers 2, these sudden moments are quite comical and very much fit the vibe of the game.
Chaos is an Integral Part of Helldivers 2
Believe it or not, falling out of the ship at the start of a mission and getting stuck between the infinite void that is space and Super Earth that’s way down below is one of the tamer things that could happen in Helldivers 2.
In a game where 4 people (friends or strangers) get together and are forced to strategize and cooperate to take out giant bugs and robots that are incredibly powerful, all the while trying not to kill your own teammates with your explosive weaponry because friendly fire is on, you’re bound to experience some of the silliest and most bizarre situations right from the start.
Add to this description that all the bodies have ragdoll physics, and you can imagine why people find this game so entertaining even during moments that should be frustrating.
The new Helldivers game has hopefully set a precedent for future co-op games.
Games don’t need to be so serious and realistic in every aspect—Helldivers is doing great with its ragdolls flying everywhere, and its funny aspects very much fit the game’s universe and brand of humor, adding to the immersion factor rather than taking away from it.
