Sony’s Helldivers 2 is an amazing game that has managed to capture the hearts of millions of gamers around the world ever since it came out last month. The title features many different intriguing elements, such as Multiplayer capability, breathtaking weapons, and most importantly, a stunning campaign.
When we focus particularly on the campaign, we see how there are new factions such as Terminids and Automatons that we get to fight against and spread democracy against. However, fans, such as this user on Reddit have started speculating how Automatons’ final goal might not be to take over Super Earth, but something else.
Helldivers 2 Players Speculate Automaton’s Next Move Is Not To Attack Super Earth
The user as mentioned earlier pointed out on the platform how the Automatons are moving towards Cyberstan. In Helldivers 2, Cyberstan is the planet where the original Cyborgs have been kept locked away ever since their defeat.
While there is no hint given as to why Automatons would decide to be Cyborgs, many fans have guessed that they are most probably an advanced version of the Cyborgs, as hinted by the developers (more on that later). This would make sense as they would then want to free their ancestors, or masters, from being enslaved by humans.
Everything remains speculation for now, and there is nobody who has any idea about why Automatons would decide to move towards Cyberstan instead of Super Earth after the fall of Malevelon Creek. However, a post by the game developers made a few years ago gives an idea of why Cyborgs are important to Automatons.
Helldiver’s Official Twitter Account Reveals The Relation Between Automatons And Cyborgs
Posted way back in October 2021, an official post on Helldiver’s Twitter profile contained what seems to be an encrypted message. After finally breaking down the message, fans found a piece of communication that did not make sense at the time but does now.
Decrypting the message, it read “We, the collective from Cyberstan, unanimously assert our independence from Super Earth. We have the right to defend our home from the brainwashed Helldivers. Our children, the automaton, will not suffer as we have under the oppression of Super Earth!“
There is also speculation about how Automaton’s advancement towards Cyberstand can potentially be a build-up for the studio to finally release the Mech update. For context, a leak has recently surfaced online which practically confirms how driveable Mechs will soon be implemented in-game, giving players another weapon class to deliver democracy.
Helldivers 2 is available to play on Steam.
