Spider-Man: The Great Web may have lost to the company affairs but it already has become a phenomenon. Fans around the world are talking about it given what they witnessed in the recent leaks. The game was supposed to be a live-service multiplayer game where different variants of the famous comic book superhero were featured.
In the recent videos, some glimpses of the game were shown to the public. From visually striking graphics to mechanics, everything seemed perfect. Now as many are losing hope for the game, some are still out there who believe in bringing the game back, at least they hope to. For that, they have joined hand together to run a campaign for the issue, and it appears like gaining traction.
Not All Hope is Lost For The Great Web, or Helldivers 2
Supporters have come together on online platform Change.org which allow users to sign petitions for a causes they feel are important and gaming community have one, The Great Web. The campaign called BRING BACK THE GREAT WEB was created by a user called Henry Hughes where 3,067 users have signed the petition at the time of writing. If this sounds familiar, that’s because recently fans did the same for Helldivers 2.
Nothing has been announced regarding getting Helldivers 2 onto Xbox, but hopefully the same won’t be said for this latest petition.
The creator of the campaign was shocked just like everyone else who came to know the news and wrote that,
Just like you I am in absolute shock that the multiplayer game for Spider-Man The Great Web was cancelled. This petition is to show insomniac and Sony the love and want we have for this possibly groundbreaking Multiplayer experience.
Some also uploaded the video to show their support for the game with one saying that he would buy a multiplayer Spider-Man game in a heartbeat. By the looks of the video and the pitch shared on the the Internet, no one would want to miss out on a game like this.
Maybe The Company Will Have To Discuss Over it Again
Reportedly, a barrage of content was planned for the game if it released. Given the multiversal settings, it had a scope to feature multiple stories associated with Spider-people entering from different earths in the game. Moreover, it would have brought some content from SM 2 which was released last year only.
Moreover, it was already a success if the estimated numbers shown in the pitch are taken into consideration. In an anticipated PlayStation market of around 100 Million users, the game had an addressable market of 52 Million users. With regards to PC, the addressable market was anticipated to be around 17 Million.
With the campaign active on the internet and users fleeing in to sign into the petition, not all hope is lost it seems. Whether Sony and Insomniac Games will give the game another chance is unknown, but it is definitely worth giving a shot.
Have you signed into the petition for the game? Tell us in the comments.
