The landscape in Helldivers 2 appears to be evolving before the player’s eyes and despite only being released for over a month, the game remains as popular as ever. The game has gained huge popularity due to its comparisons with the cult classic film, Starship Troopers and it seems that little can be done to knock it off the top spot for players worldwide.
The title remains the top-selling title currently on Steam and although the Steam Deck is the top-selling item, the game still stands as the go-to game for co-op gamers. Whilst players are busy fighting for democracy, developers are always looking at ways to improve the game and with the latest patch, a feature may have been added which has irked some fans of the game.
What is the issue with the latest patch in Helldivers 2?
It was noted recently on the Helldivers subreddit that an issue with the steering lock on the Hellpod had appeared following the latest patch. It was noted from the post by @OmegaXesis that it wasn’t clear whether this was a bug or something intentionally added by Devs.

The comments following from other players highlighted this issue with Hellpod having been around since the launch of the game and that this was nothing new. For many this appears to be nothing new and it has had no effect to the enjoyment of the game as a whole.
Other players were less than patient and wanted this bug addressed as quickly as possible as it was annoying. What’s clear from the majority of comments however is that players are regarding this as a bug rather than an intentional addition and if that is indeed the case, then this will no doubt be addressed by Devs in due course.
The hype for Helldivers 2 shows little signs of dissipating.
As reported recently, the first official merchandise for the Arrowhead Games Studio title has been released and due to the popularity of the game, it is expected that this will shift pretty quickly. Those looking to get their hands on these items can pre-order things such as t-shirts, hoodies, and pins so that they can look the part when fighting for democracy.
The popularity of the game leading to merchandise being developed is a clear indicator of how well received it has been from fans and despite there only being a limited amount of merch, if successful this will no doubt be expanded upon.
Going by the post on Reddit, there is no confirmation of whether the Hellpod steering lock is intended or whether it is a bug. However, it doesn’t seem to have affected players’ enjoyment of the game too much. Helldivers 2 remains the top-selling game on Steam with very positive reviews and that is perhaps little surprise given the current player numbers.
