The debate over “Who is the better Superman?” is one that has been raging for as long as one can remember. Ever since David Corenswet was officially announced as the replacement for Henry Cavill in the iconic role in James Gunn’s version of the DC Universe, fans have been conflicted about who the better one is.
While this debate is yet to be sorted out with a final answer, there have been quite some additions to this debate. Like the most recent raging one about whose symbol is better between the two hotshots, one of whose is from the SnyderVerse, while the other is from Gunn’s universe. And this time, most fans seem to have the final answer.
Hot Topic: Whose Superman Symbol is Better — Henry Cavill’s or David Corenswet’s?
Recently, another hot debate has taken the DC fans by storm. While this is also related to Henry Cavill and Corenswet’s versions of the Man of Steel, this one is more inclined toward the superhero suit part of each of the respective actors.
Or, to be more precise, this one is a war about the different versions of the symbols of the fan-favorite superhero that one of the two has already worn and carried forward and the other will soon be seen wearing proudly on his chest.
To provide you with an insight in case you forgot: Cavill’s version of the “S” symbol, which was created by Zack Snyder, “was modeled on a flowing river”, as the actor himself mentioned in the theatrical cut of 2017’s Justice League.
As for Corenswet’s version: James Gunn recently posted on his Instagram a snippet of Kal-El’s suit that Corenswet would soon be sporting in the upcoming Superman. This “S” symbol has notably been inspired by Alex Ross and Mark Waid’s Kingdom Come comics.
Now that we’ve discussed both of these symbols, time to jump on the main topic: Whose symbol of the Man of Steel is better — Cavill’s or David Corenswet‘s? Well, for the majority of fans, it mostly seems to be only one answer.
Fans Choose Their Favorite Superman Symbol Between the Two
Amid this ongoing debate, @blurayangel on X took to their handle to share two images to take this poll among fans about whose “S” symbol is better. While one picture holds Cavill in Snyder’s version of the superhero suit, the other holds a fanart of Corenswet in his respective superhero costume.

Since then, fans have taken to the comment section of this post to express their favorites. And unsurprisingly enough (or perhaps surprisingly), a majority of the responses are citing Cavill’s symbol as being the better one. Take a look for yourself:
Definitely Cavill’s logo

I say Henry cavil’s because it’s the classic logo just slightly different

There's only one right answer…Cavill's

Meanwhile, some others are sharing why they prefer Cavill’s logo of the Man of Steel over Corenswet’s. Here’s what they are saying:
Henry cavill
His has more detail and stands out
The other one just feels…..watered down is that makes any sense

Henry Cavill's but I'd have to see the Corenswet suit before I can judge which look is better overall.

Idk why but The right looks like something is missing

Left. Right has the color, but it's a little off to me for some reason

Nonetheless, if the result is to be announced by the majority of votes, then Henry Cavill has inevitably come victorious in this debate with a stunning 27 people voting for his symbol, as compared to David Corenswet’s, which holds a meager 9 votes as of this writing.
At the same time, the debate about “Who is the better Man of Steel?” is one that’s still raging, and the true answer to this can only be found out after watching Corenswet’s performance, so stay tuned to know the final outcome of that!
James Gunn’s Superman will be hitting the theatres on the 11th of July, 2025.
