Soon after appearing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Gal Gadot starred in the 2017 blockbuster Wonder Woman. The movie served as the fourth installment of the DC Extended Universe and still stands as one of the best superhero origin projects. But debate arose when it was reported that Gadot was criminally underpaid for the movie that made $822 million.

It can’t be said that salary differences aren’t a thing in the industry but the case of Wonder Woman isn’t what it looks like. The buzz started after an Elle report suggested that Gal Gadot was only paid $300,000 for the 2017 film while Henry Cavill earned $14 million for his Man of Steel. The reported injustice created a whole lot of internet debate before finally, the story came out to be incomplete.

As soon as the rumors skyrocketed, the trusted sources took no time to debunk the news. Henry Cavill’s base salary for Man of Steel was also $300k. It was only after Man of Steel earned $668 million that it was elevated to a huge figure. On the other hand, the Patty Jenkins directorial’s $822 million also hinted that Gadot must have earned more following the release of the movie. Moreover, all the MCU veterans also started their careers with figures close to Gadot and Cavill’s base salaries.

Another set of reports also stated how the Lois Lane actress Amy Adams was paid far more than Cavill in the movie. So it can be said that the reports regarding salary differences don’t look quite evident in Gal Gadot’s case.
