Dwayne Johnson and Keanu Reeves working together on a film drew everyone’s attention. Fans wanted to know how the two felt working with each other. Since DC League of Super-Pets is an animated film, the two actors didn’t get to meet each other, even during the voice-over acting stage. Instead, they met at the film’s premiere, and the two of them only had praise for each other.

Reeves praised Johnson and Kevin Hart’s friendship (The Rock voices Krypto, Superman’s dog, and Hart voices Ace, Batman’s dog). He expressed that it definitely comes across on-screen as well. The actor said,

“I mean their chemistry, you know, in real life but then also their chemistry in the film, it’s something special, you know and they’re both so funny and cool cats.”

But Reeves was not the only one full of praises for his co-star.

During an interview on Good Morning America, Johnson praised his DC co-star for being an amazing Batman in the film. Apparently, it was a dream come true role for Reeves as well. As per the Black Adam actor:

“When I got the call that Keanu was really interested in this and that’s always the challenge of the animated movie bringing these characters to life, man, he’s being very humble now about him being. But his Batman and his Batman’s voice it’s iconic.”

Even though DC League of Super-Pets is the only film they have done together, there was once an opportunity for the two to star together in a live-action film.

As per a Screen Rant interview with Dwayne Johnson, The Matrix star was going to star in Hobbs and Shaw. The Rock revealed that there was a discussion with Keanu Reeves regarding him starring as the director of the organization named Eteon.

But the John Wick star turned down the film as he felt that it wasn’t for him. Ultimately, the character’s face was never revealed in the film and even the voice used for him was heavily processed.

As per Johnson:

“What we also did at the end was we left the ominous voice faceless. So, for some time, I think you guys have heard the rumor that it was going to be a bit of a John Wick, all disguised. But then we left it there [with] a few people in mind. Originally, Keanu was the goal. We were talking, and it just didn’t feel right creatively. …He and I talked, and I totally got it. And it wound up being the best thing, so now we leave that open for the future.”

There are currently no plans for a sequel to Hobbs and Shaw, but fans of the two actors would surely love to see them unite for a live-action project.

DC League of Super-Pets is streaming on HBO Max.
